Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a mejoras a proceso para preparar una composición de arcilla organofílica, que comprende: a) preparar una suspensión de arcilla del tipo esmectita en agua a un peso de 1 a 80 por ciento de dicha arcilla; b) calentar la suspensión hasta una temperatura de entre 20 y 100 grados C; c) agregar (i) de 5 a 200 mili-equivalentes totales de una mezcla de anión orgánico por 100 gramos de arcilla sobre una base de arcilla 100 por ciento activa, d) continuar la reacción por un tiempo suficiente para formar un producto de reacción que comprenda los complejos de catión orgánico-anión orgánico los cuales son intercalados con la arcilla del tipo esmectita y los sitios de intercambio de catión de la arcilla del tipo esmectita son substituídos con el catión orgánico; y e) recuperar el producto de reacción, en donde la mezcla de los aniones primario y secundario incrementa la facilidad de dispersión de la composición de arcilla orgánica en un líquido orgánico hasta un grado superior a una cantidad equivalente de ya sea el anión primario o secundario solo.
