Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un catalizador para purificar gases de escape, que comprenden esencialmente un soporte monolítico refractario, catalíticamente inerte en forma substancial, una capa interna que contiene un óxido refractario, catalíticamente activo, formado sobre el soporte, y una capa externa que contiene un óxido refractario, catalíticamente activo, formado sobre la capa interna, caracterizada porque: el soporte tiene canales de flujo, longitudinales y continuos, sin obstruir, cada uno extendiendose a través del soporte y definidos por una pared delgada; la capa interna se deposita sobre las paredes de los canales y contiene el óxido de cerio y el platino y tiene un peso de 10 a 200 gramos por litro del catalizador; la capa externa se deposita sobre la capa interna, contiene el compuesto de zirconio y el rodio y tiene un peso de 5 a 60 gramos por litro de catalizador; y el óxido refractario, catalíticamente activo, se divide finamente y tiene un área superficial específica de al menos unos 10 m cuadrados/g.
