Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para recuperar azufre, caracterizado porque comprende los pasos de: (A) proveer gas ácido que contiene sulfuro de hidrógeno, oxidante y agua, a una zona de combustión para formar una corriente de reacción; (B) efectuar la combustión del sulfuro de hidrógeno con el oxidante en presencia de agua, para proveer dióxido de azufre a la corriente de reacción; (C) hacer reaccionar el dióxido de azufre con el sulfuro de hidrógeno para producir azufre; (D) recuperer el azufre de la corriente de reacción; (E) separar el agua de la corriente de reacción, mediante condensación; y (F) hacer pasar la corriente de reacción parcialmente deshumidificada, a cuando menos una zona de reacción catalítica, para la producción adicional de azufre.
