Abstract

"PROCESSO E APARELHO PARA RECUPERAR ENXOFRE DE UMA CORRENTE DE GáS QUE CONTéM SULFETO DE HIDROGêNIO". Ar oxigênio ou enriquecido com oxigênio é empregado para suportar combustão em fornos (16) e (26) de parte do teor de sulfeto de hidrogênio de uma primeira corrente de gás de alimentação. Vapor de enxofre é extraído no condensador (32) da mistura de gás resultante de modo a formar uma corrente de gás exaurido de vapor de enxofre que compreende sulfeto de hidrogênio, dióxido de enxofre, hidrogênio e vapor de água. A corrente de gás exaurido de vapor de enxofre é passada para um reator de redução catalítica (40) no qual todo dióxido de enxofre residual é reduzido a sulfeto de hidrogênio. A mistura de gás reduzido resultante tem vapor d'água extraído da mesma em uma torre de resfriamento brusco (52). A corrente de gás exaurido de vapor d'água resultante flui para uma instalação Claus para tratamento adicional tipicamente junto com uma segunda corrente de gás de alimentação que compreende sulfeto de hidrogênio. O emprego dos dois fornos (16) e (26) torna possível obter-se conversões altamente eficazes em enxofre do sulfeto de hidrogênio no gás de alimentação sem ter de reciclar qualquer parte do gás exaurido de vapor d'água.
