ESTE GAS RESIDUAL SE PONE EN CONTACTO CON UN CATALIZADOR (2) DE LA HIDROLISIS DE COS Y CS2 EN PRESENCIA DE H2S, QUE ACTUA A TEMPERATURAS COMPRENDIDAS ENTRE LOS 180 Y 400 C. PARA PRODUCIR UN GAS RESIDUAL HIDROLIZADO RICO EN H2S Y SO2, Y SUBSTANCIALMENTE LIBRE DE COS Y CS2. ESTE GAS RESIDUAL HIDROLIZADO (38) PASA A LA UNIDAD DE DEPURACION, EN LA QUE EL EXCESO DE H2S Y SO2 ES RECICLADO PARA CONSEGUIR LA FORMACION DE AZUFRE A UNA TEMPERATURA INFERIOR A LA TEMPERATURA DE EBULLICION DEL AZUFRE FORMADO, MIENTRAS QUE EN OTRA SECCION DE LA UNIDAD DEPURADORA (29) SE OBTIENE UN GAS PURIFICADO QUE A CONTINUACION ES INCINERADO (4). EL H2S RESULTANTE DEL PROCESO DE HIDROLISIS DEL COS Y CS2 SE RECUPERA CASI TOTALMENTE EN FORMA DE AZUFRE EN EL INTERIOR DE LA UNIDAD DE DEPURACION, LO QUE PERMITE MEJORAR SUSTANCIALMENTE EL RENDIMIENTO DE AZUFRE DEL SISTEMA.
