Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento para la producción de óxido de etileno, caracterizado porque comprende: hacer reaccionar etileno con oxígeno para formar óxido de etileno en una zona de reacción en presencia de un catalizador adecuado a base de plata, bajo temperaturas adecuadas y presiones superatmosfericas; ocurriendo la reacción en presencia adicional de una mezcla gaseosa de reacción adecuada que contiene un componente de CO2 y de argón; retirar el óxido de etileno formado de la mezcla gaseosa efluente de la reacción; retirar selectivamente una cantidad adecuada de argón haciendo pasar una cantidad adecuada de mezcla gaseosa de reacción a traves de una unidad de membrana semipermeable adecuada; y reponer los gases reactivos agotados.
