Claims (5)

  1. 2개의 투명한 시트 사이에서 봉함 물질에 의해 테두리 진 틈새기를 갖는 하우징(housing), 및 추가로 적어도 1개의 편광필름, 적어도 1개의 배향층, 또한 상기한 투명 시트들의 양쪽 내부 표면상에 존재하는 2개의 전극, 및 틈새기내에 존재하는 강유전성 스멕팅 액정 물질을 포함하고, 여기에서 액정 물질이 먼저 전극들에 대해 경사진 층 구조를 형성하여 나선의 형성을 억제하며, 이후에 액정 물질이 자발 분극 및 포지티브 유전성 이방성(이들은 둘다 외부 인가 전기장에 의해 무시할 수 있을 정도로 작지 않은 상호작용을 하며, 이것을 액정 물질의 반복적인 스위칭을 가능하게 한다)을 갖는 액정소자.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 액정 물질이 SC *,SF *,SG *,SI *또는 SJ *상을 형성하는 액정 소자.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 액정 물질이 강유전성 상보다 높은 온도 범위에서 N*을 갖는 액정 소자.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 액정층이 갈짓자(chevron)구조를 갖는 액정 소자.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 유효 전압치에 의해 회색 색조로 조절될 수 있는 액정 소자.
