Abstract

본 발명은 셀 두께가 1 내지 10μm이고, 강유전성 액정 혼합물〔여기서, 당해 혼합물은 자발 분극 Ps가 20nC·㎝-2보다 크고 공유의 나선형 피치가 셀 두께의 1/2미만이며, 이온성 불순물을 제거시키기 위한 친유화, 친유성 또는 양친매성 화합물을 포함한다〕, 전극 및 정렬 층(들)을 포함하는 전기 광학적 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다.
본 발명에 따르는 강유전성 액정 조성물을 사용하면 표면 메모리 효과가 상당히 감소되고 디스플레이 콘트라스트가 상당히 향상된다.

Claims (6)

  1. 자발분극 Ps가 20nC·㎝-2보다 크고 공유의 나선형 피치가 셀 두께의 1/2 미만이며, 하나 이상의 친유화, 친유성 및/또는 양친매성 화합물을 포함하는 강유전성 액정 혼합물.
  2. 제1항에 따르는 강유전성 액정 혼합물을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
  3. 강유전성 액정 층의 두께가 1 내지 10μm이고, 자발 분극 Ps가 20nC·㎝-2보다 크고 고유의 나선형 피치가 셀 두께의 1/2미만이며, 하나 이상의 친유화, 친유성 및/또는 양친매성 화합물을 포함하는 강유전성 액정 혼합물, 전극 및 정렬 층(들)을 포함하는 전기 광학적 디스플레이 장치.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 강유전성 액정 혼합물의 스멕틱 층의 구조가 북쉘프 기하(bookshelf geometry) 또는 쿼시-북쉘프 기하(quasi-bookshelf geometry)인 디스플레이 장치.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 북쉘프 기하 또는 쿼시-북쉘프 기하가 전기장 처리에 의해 형성된 디스플레이 장치.
  6. 제4항에 있어서, 북쉘프 기하 또는 쿼시-북쉘프 기하가 10°미만의 경사 각을 갖는 디스플레이 장치.
