제3도는 실시예 I 의 OFF 상태의 제1의 위상차판(位相差板)을 통과한 출사편광상태를 표시하는 도면,
제4도는 실시예 I의 ON 상태의 제1의 위상차판을 통과한 출사편광상태를 표시하는 도면,
제5도는 실시예2의 OFF상태의 제1의 위상차판을 통과한 출사편광상태를 표시하는 도면,

Claims (7)

  1. 슈퍼 트위스트형 액정표시장치에 있어서, 상측편광판(1)―제1의 위상차판(2)―STN 액정패널(3)―제2의 위상차판(4)―하측편광판(5)을 이 순서로 적층배설하고 상기 제1의 위상차판(2)과 제2의 위상차판(4)의 레터데이션치를 동등하게 하고 아울러 상기 제1의 위상차판(2)과 제2의 위상차판(4)을 STN 액정패널(3)에 대하여 대칭적인 관계, 즉, Θ1+Θ2=180°, 여기에서 Θ1은 STN 액정패널을 구성하는 상기판의 액정분자 배향축과 제1의 위상차판 광학축이 이루는 각이며, Θ2는 동하기판의 액정분자 배향축과 제2의 위상차판 광학축의 이루는 각도에 배설한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1의 위상차판(2)과 제2의 위상차판(4)의 레터데이션치는 330∼500㎚인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1의 위상차판(2)과 제2의 위상차판(4)의 레터데이션치는 330∼420㎚인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 Θ1및 Θ2가 다함께 45°보다 큰 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  5. 제1항에 있어서,상기 Θ1및 Θ2가 다함께 90°인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1의 위상차판(2)과 제2의 위상차판(4)은 1매 또는 복수매의 일축성 고분자필름으로 부터 구성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
  7. 제1항에 있어서 트위스트각 및 레터데이션치가 기히 알려진 STN 액정패널(3)을 상요하는 액정표시장치에 있어서, 제1의 위상차판(2) 및 제2의 위상차판(4)의 레터데이션치를 각각 Re1으로 하고, 제1의 위상차판(2) 및 제2의 위상차판(4)에 의한 실효의 레터데이션치를 Re2로 하고 제1의 위상차판(2)과 제2의 위상차판(4)의 광학축의 이루는 각도를 Θ라 할때, Re(panel)와 Re1의 상관관계를 표시하는 그래프로 부터 Re1의 개략치를 선택하고, nRe2=Re(panel)×3/2(n=1 or 2)로부터 Re2의 개략치를 산출하고, 다시금 Re2=2Rel cosΘ로부터 Θ의 개략치를 산출하고, 제1의 위상차판(2) 및 제2의 위상차판(4)을 배설한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
