제1 사용자와 관련된 적어도 하나 이상의 제2 사용자로 구성된 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 단계와 생성된 사용자 리스트를 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 표시하는 단계와 표시된 사용자 리스트에 나타나는 제2 사용자 중 적어도 하나 이상의 제3 사용자를 선택하는 단계와 선택된 제3 사용자에게 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG: Electronic Program Guide)로부터 선택된 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 추천하는 메시지를 전송하는 단계를 포함하는 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법이 개시되어 있다.

Description

미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법과 그 장치{Method for recommending broadcasting contents in media contents reproducing device and apparatus thereof}
본 발명은 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 버디 리스트를 이용한 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법 및 그 장치에 관한 것이다.
최근 케이블 채널의 증가와 케이블 방송이 보편화되고, IPTV를 이용하는 사용자가 증가함에 따라 사용자가 접할 수 있는 컨텐츠의 양은 급속도로 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 사용자는 많은 양의 컨텐츠에서, 어떤 컨텐츠를 선택해야 할지 고민하거나, 어떻게 컨텐츠를 찾을지 고민하게 된다. 이러한 상황에서 사용자는 특정 시스템 및 서비스로부터 컨텐츠를 추천받을 수 있다. 그러나 기존의 시스템 및 서비스로부터의 추천보다 나와 인맥을 형성하고 있는 사람으로부터의 추천이 컨텐츠를 선택하는데 있어 더욱 큰 영향력을 발휘할 수 있다. 예를 들어, TV 시청 중 TV 광고를 통한 프로그램 추천보다는 평소에 오락 프로그램에 관심 있는 친구의 추천이 사용자에게 있어 컨텐츠를 선택하는데 더욱 큰 영향력이 미친다.
그리고 커뮤니티에 대한 인식과 활용이 점점 대중화되고 보편화된 요즘, 여 럿이 공통된 주제에 대하여 함께 즐기는 문화가 늘고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 추세에 따라 소셜 네트워크(social network)를 이용한 프로그램 공유는 비록 같은 장소는 아니지만 혼자가 아닌 여럿이서 컨텐츠를 시청한다는 느낌을 제공함으로써 보다 높은 공감대 형성과 높은 만족도를 이끌어 낼 수 있다.
본 발명의 목적은 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 버디 리스트를 이용한 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법 및 그 장치를 제공하는 것이다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법은 제1 사용자와 관련된 적어도 하나 이상의 제2 사용자로 구성된 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 단계와; 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트를 상기 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 표시하는 단계와; 상기 표시된 사용자 리스트에 나타나는 제2 사용자 중 적어도 하나 이상의 제3 사용자를 선택하는 단계와; 상기 선택된 제3 사용자에게 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG: Electronic Program Guide)로부터 선택된 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 추천하는 메시지를 전송하는 단계를 포함한다.
상기 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 단계는, 네트워크로 연결된 외부 서버에 상기 제1 사용자의 계정을 등록하는 단계와; 상기 서버로부터 상기 제2 사용자를 검색하는 단계와; 상기 검색된 제2 사용자를 상기 제1 사용자의 계정에 등록하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는, 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하거나, 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는, 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트 의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 시청 시간정보를 함께 표시하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는, 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 제3 방송 컨텐츠의 타이틀을 함께 표시하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는, 상기 사용자 리스트에 구비된 제2 사용자를 나타내는 기등록된 이미지 및/또는 제2 사용자의 이름을 표시하고, 상기 사용자 리스트를 화면상에 반투명으로 표시하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 선택된 제3 사용자의 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 상기 추천 메시지를 알리는 소정의 아이콘을 표시하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 추천 메시지를 전송받은 제3 사용자가 상기 추천한 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 시청할 것을 동의하였는지 여부를 나타내는 응답 메시지를 수신하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는 상기 사용자 리스트에서 표시된 사용자 중 상기 추천 메시지를 전송받는 것을 거절하는 사용자에 대하여 거절의사를 나타내는 소정의 아이콘을 함께 표시하며, 상기 추천하는 메시지를 전송하는 단계는 상기 거절의사를 나타내는 아이콘이 함께 표시된 사용자에게는 상기 추천 메시지를 전송할 수 없는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 장치는 제1 사용자와 관련된 적어도 하나 이상의 제2 사용자로 구성된 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 버디 리스트 생성부와; 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트를 상기 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 표시하는 화면 출력부와; 상기 표시된 사용자 리스트에 나타나는 제2 사용자 중 적어도 하나 이상의 제3 사용자를 선택하는 사용자 입력부와; 상기 선택된 제3 사용자에게 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG: Electronic Program Guide)로부터 선택된 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 추천하는 메시지를 전송하는 메시지 전송부를 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 버디 리스트 생성부는, 네트워크로 연결된 외부 서버에 상기 제1 사용자의 계정을 등록하는 계정 등록부와; 상기 서버로부터 상기 제2 사용자를 검색하는 버디 검색부와; 상기 검색된 제2 사용자를 상기 제1 사용자의 계정에 등록하는 리스트 관리부를 더 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 화면 출력부는, 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하거나, 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 화면 출력부는, 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 시청 시간정보를 함께 표시하 는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 화면 출력부는, 상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 제3 방송 컨텐츠의 타이틀을 함께 표시하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 화면 출력부는, 상기 사용자 리스트에 구비된 제2 사용자를 나타내는 기등록된 이미지 및/또는 제2 사용자의 이름을 표시하고, 상기 사용자 리스트를 화면상에 반투명으로 표시하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 추천 장치는 상기 선택된 제3 사용자의 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 상기 추천 메시지를 알리는 소정의 아이콘을 표시하는 메시지 제어부를 더 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 추천 장치는 상기 추천 메시지를 전송받은 제3 사용자가 상기 추천한 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 시청할 것을 동의하였는지 여부를 나타내는 응답 메시지를 수신하는 응답 메시지 수신부를 더 포함하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 화면 출력부는 상기 사용자 리스트에서 표시된 사용자 중 상기 추천 메시지를 전송받는 것을 거절하는 사용자에 대하여 거절의사를 나타내는 소정의 아이콘을 함께 표시하며, 상기 메시지 전송부는 상기 거절의사를 나타내는 아이콘이 함께 표시된 사용자에게는 상기 추천 메시지를 전송할 수 없는 것이 바람직하다.
나아가 본 발명은 상기 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법을 구현하기 위한 프로그램이 기록된 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록 매체를 포함한다.
본 발명과 본 발명의 동작상의 이점 및 본 발명의 실시에 의하여 달성되는 목적을 충분히 이해하기 위해서는 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 예시하는 첨부 도면 및 도면에 기재된 내용을 참조하여야 한다.
본 발명은 휴대용 DMB 플레이어(Portable DMB Player)나 DMB 방송수신이 가능한 휴대폰 또는 Digital TV와 같이 방송을 볼 수 있는 단말기상에서, 네트워크를 이용하여 단말기간의 메시지를 송수신하는데 있어서 보다 편리한 사용자 인터페이스(user interface)를 제공하여 프로그램을 추천하는 방법 및 장치에 관한 것이다.
이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에 대해 상세히 설명한다.
도 1은 본 발명이 적용되는 네트워크 시스템의 개념도를 나타내는 도면이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 네트워크 시스템에는 웹 어플리케이션(131), 데이터베이스(132)를 구비한 웹 서버(130) 및 클라이언트(120-1 내지 120-3)이 존재하고, 특히 방송 컨텐츠를 재생/녹화하는 TV와 같은 디바이스의 경우에는 방송 컨텐츠 및 EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 정보를 송신하는 방송국(110)이 존재한다.
종래에 네트워크(예: 인터넷)를 이용하여 단말기간의 메신저 서비스를 제공해왔던 기술로는 Network enabled TV의 데이터 서비스와 IPTV(Internet Protocol Television)의 SMS을 들 수 있다.
Network enabled TV의 데이터 서비스는의 경우, 사용자는 서버에서 제공하는 웹 브라우저에 사용자 계정과 TV의 고유번호를 등록한다. 사용자는 서버로부터 사용자 인증을 받은 후에 날씨, 주식, 뉴스와 같은 정보를 요청하고 서버는 해당 정보를 단말기에 전송해준다. 이러한 서비스는 웹 브라우저에 접속하지 않더라도 TV에서 날씨정보 얻거나 뉴스기사를 읽을 수 있지만 관련 정보를 다른 사람과 공유하거나 추천할 수는 없다. 한편, IPTV의 SMS의 경우, IPTV는 초고속 인터넷을 이용하여 정보 서비스, 동영상 컨텐츠 및 방송 등을 텔레비전 수상기로 제공하는 서비스를 말한다. 이때 IPTV는 인터넷 환경을 이용하여 단말간의 SMS 서비스를 제공한다. SMS를 이용하는 방법은 사용자가 On Screen Keyboard를 이용하여 메시지를 보낼 사람의 고유 ID를 검색한 후, 보낼 메시지를 On Screen Keyboard를 이용하여 작성하고 서버로 전송한다. 서버는 단말로부터 온 사용자 ID를 Database로부터 검색하고 동일한 ID가 있을 경우, ID로부터 단말의 주소를 얻어 해당 메시지를 전송하는 방법이다. 이는 메시지를 보내기 전에 보낼 사용자를 검색해야 하며, 보낼 메시지를 입력하는데 On Screen Keyboard를 이용함으로써 사용자에게 편리하지 않은 인터페이스를 가지고 있다.
도 2는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른, 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법을 설명하기 위한 플로우 차트이다.
도 2를 참조하면, 일 실시예에 따른 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법은 제1 사용자와 관련된 적어도 하나 이상의 제2 사용자로 구성된 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 단계(210)와 생성된 사용자 리스트를 상기 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 표시하는 단계(220)와 표시된 사용자 리스트에 나타나는 제2 사용자 중 적어도 하나 이상의 제3 사용자를 선택하는 단계(230)와 선택된 제3 사용자에게 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG)로부터 선택된 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 추천하는 메시지를 전송하는 단계(240)를 포함한다. 따라서, 사용자는 생성된 사용자 리스트(이하, "버디 리스트"라 함)를 이용하여 버디 리스트에 속한 버디들에게 자신이 시청 중인 방송 프로그램이나 EPG 정보로부터 선택된 방송 프로그램을 추천하는 메시지를 전송할 수 있다.
본 발명의 전체 시스템은 크게 서버 사이드와 클라이언트 사이드로 나눌 수 있다. 이중 서버 사이드에서는 계정을 등록하고 버디(buddy)를 실질적으로 등록/관리할 수 있도록 웹 어플리케이션(Web Application)과 웹 서비스(Web Service)를 포함하고 있다. 실제 버디에 관련된 정보나 개인에 대한 정보의 관리는 모두 서버 사이드에 위치한 데이터베이스(132)를 사용하여 관리한다. 서버 사이드에 위치한 웹 서버는 웹 어플리케이션이 동작할 수 있는 환경을 제공하여, 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하는 사용자들이 해당 웹 어플리케이션의 페이지에 접근하여 자신의 계정을 등록하거나 버디를 검색/등록하는 일들을 가능하게 한다. 웹 서버는 웹 서버 위에서 동작하는 웹 어플리케이션 이외에 버디의 추천 요청을 받아들여 다른 버디들에게 추천 메시지를 전달하는 기능을 수행하는 웹 서비스를 제공하여 버디들간에 원활한 추천 및 공유활동이 이루어지게 한다.
클라이언트 사이드에서는 어플리케이션에서 버디리스트를 보여주는 UI(User Interface)를 구현하여 버디 리스트를 보여주는데, 어플리케이션은 버디 리스트를 획득하기 위해 서버사이드에서 제공하는 웹 서비스를 이용한다. 사용자 로그인 아이디, 패스워드와 함께 요청 메시지를 웹 서비스에 보내면 해당 웹 서비스는 이에 대응되는 버디 리스트를 클라이언트로 다시 전송하고, 클라이언트 사이드에서는 전송된 버디 리스트를 수신하여 화면에 표시하게 된다.
그리고 사용자가 프로그램 시청 중에 자신이 보고 있던 프로그램을 버디에게 추천하고 싶은 경우에, 추천하길 원하는 버디의 아이디 정보와 추천 프로그램 정보를 웹 서비스에 보내면 해당 웹 서비스에서는 요청받은 버디의 아이디 정보를 바탕으로 해당 버디의 클라이언트 어플리케이션쪽으로 XML 스트림 형태의 추천 메시지를 전송한다.
이때, 버디 리스트는 사용자와 같은 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디와 다른 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디를 구분하여 표시할 필요가 있다. 즉, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 추천 방법에서 버디 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 타입은 크게 두 가지로서, 첫째 버디 리스트에 속한 버디들 중 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 방송 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디들만을 표시하거나, 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 방송 프로그램과 다른 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디들만을 표시하는 것이다. 전자의 일 예가 도 4에 나타나 있으며, 후자의 일 예는 도 5, 도 6에 나타나 있다. 이때, 버디 리스트에 속한 버디들 중 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 방송 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 버디들 각각이 프로그램을 보기 시작한 시청 시간정보를 함께 표시할 수 있다. 반면에, 버디 리스트에 속한 버디들 중 사용자와 다른 방송 프로그램을 시청 중인 버디만을 표시하는 경우에, 버디들 각각이 현재 시청 중인 방송 프로그램의 제목을 함께 표시할 수도 있다.
한편, 추천을 받은 클라이언트에서 추천받은 프로그램을 시청한다는 것에 동의를 하면, 추천 프로그램의 채널로 튜닝하여 화면을 전환시키고 추천 요청을 수락했다는 피드백(feedback) 데이터의 응답 메시지를 초기에 추천한 클라이언트에게 통보해 줄 수 있다. 일 실시예로서, 통보의 방법은 서버에서 제공하는 웹 서비스를 통해서 수행된다. 이와 같이 추천 성공의 응답 메시지를 통보받은 초기의 클라이언트에서는 추천이 성공했다는 정보를 화면에 표시한다.
이와 관련하여 도 3을 살펴보면, 도 3은 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법을 설명하기 위한 플로우 차트이다. 도 3의 단계 310 내지 단계 340은 도 1과 마찬가지로 동작한다.
단계 350에서는 선택된 버디의 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 사용자로부터 전송된 추천 메시지가 있음을 알리는 아이콘을 표시한다. 도 5를 참조하면, 현재 Mark(510)로부터 추천 메시지가 도착했음을 알리는 편지 모양의 아이콘을 확인할 수 있다.
단계 360에서는 추천 메시지를 전송받은 버디가 상기 추천한 방송 프로그램을 시청하기를 동의하였는지 여부를 나타내는 응답 메시지를 수신한다. 앞서 언급한 피드백 데이터를 통보받는 것이다.
이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 본 발명이 이루고자 하는 과제는 크게 두 가지로 나눌 수 있다.
첫째, 버디계정 생성과 친구버디 등록을 통하여 네트워크가 가능한 단말기에 서 소셜 네트워크(social network)를 구축하는 것이다. 사용자의 소셜 네트워크는 방송 시청 중 화면에 버디 리스트를 보여줌으로써 파악이 가능하다. 이러한 버디 리스트에는 각각의 버디들을 나타내는 기등록된 이미지 및/또는 버디의 이름이 표시될 수 있다. 이러한 버디 리스트를 이용하여 사용자는 프로그램 추천 메시지를 보낼 때 별도의 버디 검색을 하지 않아도 되는 장점이 있다.
둘째, 방송 시청 중 사용자와 다른 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 사용자에게 보다 편한 UI를 이용하여 추천 메시지를 보낼 수 있다. 사용자는 방송을 시청하던 도중에 화면에 표시되는 버디들을 선택할 수 있고, 선택된 버디에게 시청하고 있던 프로그램을 추천할 수 있다. 한편, 이하 도 5에서 살펴보겠지만 현재 시청 중인 프로그램뿐만 아니라 EPG 정보 중에서 다른 프로그램을 선택하여 추천할 수도 있다.
도 4는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른, 사용자와 동일한 방송 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디 리스트를 나타내는 예시도이다.
도 4를 참조하여 화면 구성을 살펴보면, 먼저 TV 화면(400)에서 일측면에 반투명인 부화면으로서 표시되는 버디 리스트를 확인할 수 있다. 실시예에 따라 다르게 설계할 수도 있지만, 버디 리스트의 핫키(hot-key)를 누르면 기본적으로는 같은 프로그램을 시청 중인 버디 리스트가 먼저 표시된다. 도 4에서는 현재 시청 중인 프로그램을 보는 사용자의 버디가 7명으로 나타나며, 각각의 버디들(410 내지 440)은 현재 프로그램을 보기 시작한 시간을 함께 표시할 수 있다. 예를 들어, Alan(410)의 경우에는 프로그램을 방금 보기 시작했으며, Paul(420)의 경우에는 15 분 전부터 시청하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
도 5는 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른, 사용자와 다른 방송 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디 리스트를 나타내는 예시도이다.
도 5에 나타난 3명의 버디들(Mark, John, Mary)은 모두 사용자와 다른 방송 프로그램을 시청 중이거나 오프라인(off-line)인 상태에 있음을 알 수 있다. 이때 사용자가 현재 자신이 시청 중인 방송 프로그램을 추천하는 메시지를 보내기 위해서는, 일 예로 방송 시청 중에 버디 리스트 핫키를 누른 후, 화면에 보이는 버디 리스트에서 상/하 방향키로 이동하여 추천 메시지를 보내고자 하는 버디를 선택한 후, 프로그램을 추천할 수 있다.
도 6은 본 발명의 또 다른 실시예에 따른, 사용자와 다른 방송 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디에게 프로그램을 추천하는 과정을 나타낸 예시도이다.
도 6을 참조하면, 사용자는 현재 시청 중인 프로그램이 아닌 다른 프로그램을 EPG로부터 선택하여 추천할 수도 있다. 앞서 언급한 바와 같이, 클라이언트 사이드에서는 EPG를 볼 수 있는 어플리케이션을 제공하는데, 해당 어플리케이션이 동작되면 방송 컨텐츠의 스트림으로부터 EPG 데이터를 추출한다. 추출된 데이터에 대해서 필터링 작업을 수행하여, 현재 시청하고 있는 채널의 프로그램 정보뿐만 아니라 다른 채널에서 방영되고 있는 프로그램 정보, 현재 시간 대에 방영하고 있는 프로그램뿐만 아니라 현재 시간 이후에 방영할 프로그램들에 대한 정보를 보여준다. 구체적으로 사용자가 EPG 방송 프로그램을 추천하는 메시지를 보내기 위해서는, 방송 시청 중에 EPG 핫키를 누른 후, 상/하 방향키를 이용하여 프로그램을 선 택하고(예: 630), 버디 리스트에서 메시지를 보낼 대상을 선정한 후(예: 640) 해당 프로그램을 추천할 수 있다.
본 발명은 상기 구체적인 동작에 의해 사용자에게 직관적인 UI를 제공함으로써 보다 쉽고 편하게 메시지를 추천할 수 있도록 도와준다.
도 7은 본 발명의 또 다른 실시예에 따른, 버디 리스트를 이용하여 방송 컨텐츠를 추천하는 동작과정을 나타낸 플로우 차트이다.
본 발명의 전반적인 동작은 크게 자신의 계정을 생성하고 친구인 버디를 등록시키는 과정과 단말에서 버디 리스트를 이용하여 프로그램을 추천(recommend) 또는 통보(notify)하는 과정으로 나눌 수 있다.
도 7을 참조하면, 프로그램 시청 중에(710) 사용자가 버디 리스트 버튼을 누르면(715) 현재 사용자와 같은 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디 리스트를 보여준다(720). 이 때 각각의 버디 정보창에는 현재 프로그램을 보기 시작한 시간을 추가적으로 보여줄 수 있다. 참고로 버디 정보창은 기본값으로 버디의 이미지 및 이름으로 구성되어 있으며 반투명하게 되어 있어 방송 화면을 가리지 않는다. 한번 더 버디 리스트 버튼을 누르면(725) 다른 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디 리스트를 보여준다(730). 이때, 각각의 버디 정보창에는 각각의 버디들이 현재 시청하고 있는 프로그램 제목을 추가적으로 보여준다. 사용자는 이러한 버디 정보창을 참고하여 사용자와 다른 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디에게 현재 자신이 시청하고 있는 프로그램을 추천하여 프로그램을 같이 시청할 수 있도록 할 수 있다(740). 또한, 다른 버디로부터의 추천을 받지 않도록 설정하여 프로그램 시청 중 방해받지 않도 록 할 수도 있다(760). 이러한 예로서, 도 6의 John의 경우에 ⓧ표시(circled X)가 나타나 있으므로 사용자는 John에게 추천 메시지를 전송할 수 없게 된다.
한편, 프로그램 시청 중 단말의 EPG 버튼을 누르면(750) EPG 테이블을 볼 수 있다. 사용자는 EPG 테이블 내에서 상/하/좌/우 버튼을 이용하여 원하는 프로그램으로 이동한다. 버디에게 추천하고 싶은 프로그램이 있는지 판단하여(755), 추천할 프로그램 선택 후, 추천을 선택하면 버디 리스트가 활성화되고 사용자는 버디 리스트에서 프로그램을 추천할 버디를 선택하여 프로그램을 추천할 수 있다(740).
도 8은 본 발명의 또 다른 실시예에 따른, 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 장치를 나타낸 기능 블록도이다.
도 8을 참조하면, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 장치(800)는 제1 사용자와 관련된 적어도 하나 이상의 제2 사용자로 구성된 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 버디 리스트 생성부(810)와 생성된 사용자 리스트를 상기 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 표시하는 화면 출력부(820)와 표시된 사용자 리스트에 나타나는 제2 사용자 중 적어도 하나 이상의 제3 사용자를 선택하는 사용자 입력부(830)와 선택된 제3 사용자에게 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG)로부터 선택된 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 추천하는 메시지를 웹 서버(870)로 전송하는 메시지 전송부(840)를 포함한다.
여기서 버디 리스트 생성부(810)는 네트워크로 연결된 외부 서버에 상기 제1 사용자의 계정을 등록하는 계정 등록부(811), 서버로부터 상기 제2 사용자를 검색 하는 버디 검색부(812), 검색된 제2 사용자를 상기 제1 사용자의 계정에 등록하는 리스트 관리부(813)를 더 포함할 수 있다.
아울러 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 장치(800)는 선택된 제3 사용자의 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 상기 추천 메시지를 알리는 아이콘을 표시하는 메시지 제어부(850)를 더 포함할 수 있으며, 상기 추천 메시지를 전송받은 제3 사용자가 상기 추천한 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 시청할 것을 동의하였는지 여부를 나타내는 응답 메시지를 수신하는 응답 메시지 수신부(860)를 더 포함할 수도 있다.
상기에서 설명한 바와 같이 본 발명의 다양한 실시에에 따르면, 프로그램 시청 중 네트워크를 통하여 사용자와 동일한 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디 리스트를 보여주거나, 사용자와 동일하지 않은 프로그램을 시청하고 있는 버디 리스트를 보여줄 수 있다. 사용자는 버디 리스트를 이용하여 사용자와 다른 프로그램을 보고 있는 버디에게 현재 시청 중인 프로그램을 알려줄 수 있고, EPG 정보를 이용하여 프로그램을 추천할 수도 있다. 수많은 컨텐츠가 존재하는 요즘, 이러한 프로그램 추천은 어떤 컨텐츠를 선택해야 할지 고민하는 사용자에게 유익한 정보가 될 수 있다. 또한 사용자는 버디 리스트를 이용하여 소셜 네트워크를 구축함으로써 혼자 TV를 시청하더라도 여럿이서 같은 프로그램을 시청하는 느낌을 가질 수 있으며, TV를 시청한 후에는 같은 프로그램을 시청한 버디들과 그 프로그램에 대해 이야기를 나누며 높은 공감대를 형성할 수 있는 장점이 있다.
한편, 상술한 본 발명의 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법은 컴퓨터에서 실행될 수 있는 프로그램으로 작성가능하고, 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록매체를 이용하여 상기 프로그램을 동작시키는 범용 디지털 컴퓨터에서 구현될 수 있다.
또한, 상술한바와 같이 본 발명에서 사용된 데이터의 구조는 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록매체에 여러 수단을 통하여 기록될 수 있다.
상기 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록매체는 마그네틱 저장매체(예를 들면, 롬, 플로피 디스크, 하드디스크 등), 광학적 판독 매체(예를 들면, 시디롬, 디브이디 등) 및 캐리어 웨이브(예를 들면, 인터넷을 통한 전송)와 같은 저장매체를 포함한다.
이제까지 본 발명에 대하여 그 바람직한 실시예들을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 본 발명이 속하는 기술 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자는 본 발명이 본 발명의 본질적인 특성에서 벗어나지 않는 범위에서 변형된 형태로 구현될 수 있음을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 개시된 실시예들은 한정적인 관점이 아니라 설명적인 관점에서 고려되어야 한다. 본 발명의 범위는 전술한 설명이 아니라 특허청구범위에 나타나 있으며, 그와 동등한 범위 내에 있는 모든 차이점은 본 발명에 포함된 것으로 해석되어야 할 것이다.

  1. 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 방법에 있어서,
    제1 사용자와 관련된 적어도 하나 이상의 제2 사용자로 구성된 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 단계와;
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트를 상기 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 표시하는 단계와;
    상기 표시된 사용자 리스트에 나타나는 제2 사용자 중 적어도 하나 이상의 제3 사용자를 선택하는 단계와;

  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 단계는,
    네트워크로 연결된 외부 서버에 상기 제1 사용자의 계정을 등록하는 단계와;
    상기 서버로부터 상기 제2 사용자를 검색하는 단계와;
    상기 검색된 제2 사용자를 상기 제1 사용자의 계정에 등록하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는,
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하거나, 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  4. 제3항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는,
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 시청 시간정보를 함께 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  5. 제3항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는,
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 제3 방송 컨텐츠의 타이틀을 함께 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  6. 제4항 또는 제5항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는,
    상기 사용자 리스트에 구비된 제2 사용자를 나타내는 기등록된 이미지 및/또는 제2 사용자의 이름을 표시하고, 상기 사용자 리스트를 화면상에 반투명으로 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  7. 제3항에 있어서,
    상기 선택된 제3 사용자의 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 상기 추천 메시지를 알리는 소정의 아이콘을 표시하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  8. 제7항에 있어서,
    상기 추천 메시지를 전송받은 제3 사용자가 상기 추천한 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 시청할 것을 동의하였는지 여부를 나타내는 응답 메시지를 수신하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  9. 제8항에 있어서,
    상기 사용자 리스트를 화면에 표시하는 단계는 상기 사용자 리스트에서 표시 된 사용자 중 상기 추천 메시지를 전송받는 것을 거절하는 사용자에 대하여 거절의사를 나타내는 소정의 아이콘을 함께 표시하며,
    상기 추천하는 메시지를 전송하는 단계는 상기 거절의사를 나타내는 아이콘이 함께 표시된 사용자에게는 상기 추천 메시지를 전송할 수 없는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 방법.
  10. 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치에서 방송 컨텐츠의 추천 장치에 있어서,
    제1 사용자와 관련된 적어도 하나 이상의 제2 사용자로 구성된 사용자 리스트를 생성하는 버디 리스트 생성부와;
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트를 상기 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 표시하는 화면 출력부와;
    상기 표시된 사용자 리스트에 나타나는 제2 사용자 중 적어도 하나 이상의 제3 사용자를 선택하는 사용자 입력부와;
    상기 선택된 제3 사용자에게 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 전자 프로그램 가이드(EPG: Electronic Program Guide)로부터 선택된 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 추천하는 메시지를 전송하는 메시지 전송부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  11. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 버디 리스트 생성부는,
    네트워크로 연결된 외부 서버에 상기 제1 사용자의 계정을 등록하는 계정 등록부와;
    상기 서버로부터 상기 제2 사용자를 검색하는 버디 검색부와;
    상기 검색된 제2 사용자를 상기 제1 사용자의 계정에 등록하는 리스트 관리부를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  12. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 화면 출력부는,
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하거나, 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  13. 제12항에 있어서,
    상기 화면 출력부는,
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 사용자가 현재 시청 중인 제1 방송 컨텐츠를 시청하고 있는 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 시청 시간정보를 함께 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  14. 제12항에 있어서,
    상기 화면 출력부는,
    상기 생성된 사용자 리스트의 제2 사용자 중 상기 제1 방송 컨텐츠와 다른 제3 방송 컨텐츠를 시청 중인 사용자만을 표시하는 경우에, 상기 사용자 리스트에 표시된 사용자 각각의 제3 방송 컨텐츠의 타이틀을 함께 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  15. 제13항 또는 제14항에 있어서,
    상기 화면 출력부는,
    상기 사용자 리스트에 구비된 제2 사용자를 나타내는 기등록된 이미지 및/또는 제2 사용자의 이름을 표시하고, 상기 사용자 리스트를 화면상에 반투명으로 표시하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  16. 제12항에 있어서,
    상기 추천 장치는 상기 선택된 제3 사용자의 미디어 컨텐츠 재생장치의 화면에 상기 추천 메시지를 알리는 소정의 아이콘을 표시하는 메시지 제어부를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  17. 제16항에 있어서,
    상기 추천 장치는 상기 추천 메시지를 전송받은 제3 사용자가 상기 추천한 제1 방송 컨텐츠 또는 제2 방송 컨텐츠를 시청할 것을 동의하였는지 여부를 나타내는 응답 메시지를 수신하는 응답 메시지 수신부를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  18. 제17항에 있어서,
    상기 화면 출력부는 상기 사용자 리스트에서 표시된 사용자 중 상기 추천 메시지를 전송받는 것을 거절하는 사용자에 대하여 거절의사를 나타내는 소정의 아이콘을 함께 표시하며,
    상기 메시지 전송부는 상기 거절의사를 나타내는 아이콘이 함께 표시된 사용자에게는 상기 추천 메시지를 전송할 수 없는 것을 특징으로 하는 추천 장치.
  19. 제1항 내지 제9항 중 어느 한 항의 방법을 구현하기 위한 프로그램이 기록된 컴퓨터로 읽을 수 있는 기록 매체.
