Description
Claims (10)
- 서로 대향하는 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 액정층이 삽입되고, 1개의 화소 영역내에 투과 표시를 행하는 투과 표시 영역과 반사 표시를 행하는 반사 표시 영역을 갖는 반투과형의 액정 표시 장치로서,상기 액정층은 전기장의 비인가시에는 광학적으로 등방성이고, 또한, 전기장의 인가시에는 광학적으로 비등방성이며, 전기장의 강도에 의해 굴절률이 변화하는 의사(擬似)등방성 액정 재료로 구성되고,상기 반사 표시 영역에서의 전기장의 강도가 상기 투과 표시 영역에서의 전기장의 강도보다도 약해지도록 구성`되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 기판의 면방향에 대하여 대략 평행하게 전기장을 인가하도록 구성되어 있는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 한 쌍의 기판 중 한 쪽의 기판 위에는 복수의 전극이 설치되어 있고,상기 투과 표시 영역에서의 전극간 거리와, 상기 반사 표시 영역에서의 전극간 거리가 다른 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 액정층에서의 위상차 Δnd가 대략 λ/2이며, 상기 반사 표시 영역에서의 전극간 거리를 Lr, 상기 투과 표시 영역에서의 전극간 거리를 Lt로 했을 때에, Lr<Lt의 관계를 만족하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 액정층에서의 위상차 Δnd가 대략 λ/4이며, 상기 반사 표시 영역에서의 전극간 거리를 Lr, 상기 투과 표시 영역에서의 전극간 거리를 Lt로 했을 때에, Lr>Lt의 관계를 만족하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 기판은 상기 액정층과 대향하는 측의 면이 대략 평탄한 표면 형상을 갖는 것인 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 의사등방성 액정 재료는 저분자량 액정 재료와, 비액정성의 모노머가 중합함으로써 형성되어, 상기 저분자량 액정 재료의 구성 분자 사이에 형성된 고분자 네트워크를 포함하는 복합계 액정 조성물로 구성된 것인 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 저분자량 액정 재료는 콜레스테릭상과 등방상 사이에서 청색상을 발현할 수 있는 것인 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 7 항 또는 제 8 항에 있어서,상기 비액정성의 모노머가 측쇄로서 알킬기를 갖는 아크릴레이트계 모노머인 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 기재된 액정 표시 장치를 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 전자 기기.
