Abstract

본 발명은 통합 프린터 드라이버를 이용하여 프린터 드라이버의 자동 변환 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이고 더욱 상세하게는, 프린터에 프라임 프린터 드라이버와 세컨드 프린터 드라이브를 통합 프린터 드라이버로 구축하여 에러가 발생하면 통합 프린터 드라이버 내의 프라임 프린터 드라이버 대신 세컨드 프린터 드라이버를 사용하여 인쇄자가 별도 프린터 드라이버의 변환 없이 다시 프린팅 가능하게 만들어 주는 통합 프린터를 이용한 프린터 드라이버 자동 변환 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.

본 발명은 컴퓨터 기기의 프린터 드라이버를 변환시키는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이고, 더욱 상세하게는 통합 프린터 드라이버를 구축하여 에러가 발생하면 통합 프린터 드라이버 내의 프라임 프린터 드라이버 대신 세컨드 프린터 드라이버를 사용하여 인쇄자가 별도 프린터 드라이버의 변환 없이 다시 프린팅 가능하게 만들어 주는 통합 프린터 드라이버를 이용한 프린터 드라이버 변환 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 프린터 드라이버는 두 종류 이상이 프린터 드라이버가 공급된다. 상기의 프린터 드라이버들은 특정 응용 프로그램이나 특정 파일의 인쇄에 있어서 프린터의 지원이 불가능 하게 되면, 해당 프로그램과 파일을 지원해 주는 다른 프린터 드라이버로 셋팅을 다시 한 뒤 프린팅을 한다.
제1도는 종래의 레이저 프린터의 프린팅 순서를 설명한 도면으로 다음과 같다.
인쇄자로부터 프린팅 명령을 입력받으면(S0), 프린터 드라이버 셋팅시 설정된 지정 프린터 드라이버로 프린터를 초기화한 후(S1), 초기화가 끝나면 문서 편집기나 응용 프로그램의 데이터를 프린팅하는 단계(A2)와 프린팅 중 응용 프로그램의 오류나 메모리의 부족으로 에러가 발생하면(S3), 인쇄자에게 프린팅을 종료 할 것인가를 확인한 후(S4), 종료하기를 원하면, 발생한 에러에 관계없이 프린팅을 종료하게 되며, 종료하지 않는다면 상위 스텝(S1)으로 피드백하여 다른 드라이버로 셋팅하여 다시 프린팅을 시도할 수 있다.
이와 같은 프린터 드라이버는 프린터 제조업체에서 생산 시 호환하여 사용할 수 있도록 두 가지 이상을 생산하고 있으며, 그 중 하나를 선택하여 디폴트 프린터 드라이버로 사용할 수 있으나, 상기 프린터 드라이버의 특성과 기능이 프로그램과 파일의 종류에 있어서 프린터 지원이 가능하거나 지원이 되지 않기 때문에, 상기 특정 프로그램에 대하여 프린터 지원이 되지 않을 경우, 프린터는 에러 메시지를 발생시키고 사용자가 에러에 대해 조치를 할 때까지 대기 상태에 들어가거나 프린팅을 취소하게 된다. 상기의 프린팅을 불가능하게 만드는 에러의 처리를 위해서는 프린팅 지원이 가능한 다른 프린터 드라이브로 프린터 드라이브의 수동 셋팅을 시도하고, 메모리의 부족으로 발생한 에러는 일정 메모리를 확보한 후, 프린팅을 시도해야 하는 문제점이 있었다.
따라서, 본 발명의 목적은 다양한 프린터 드라이버가 시스템에 존재 함에도 불구하고, 단일 프린터 드라이버만을 프린터 드라이브로 셋팅하여 응답하지 않는 응용 프로그램이나 상기 에러의 발생 시 지원 가능한 프린터 드라이버로 다시 셋팅 해야 했음으로, 현재 사용하고 있는 프라임 프린터 드라이브와 사용하지 않고 있는 세컨드 프린터 드라이브를 통합 프린터 드라이브 환경으로 변환하고 이 통합 프린터 드라이버를 컴퓨터에 탑재하여, 현재 사용중인 프린터 드라이브로 프린팅시 응용 프로그램이 현 프라임 프린터 드라이버에 응답하지 않을 경우 자동으로 세컨드 프린터 드라이버를 바꾸어 사용자로 하여금 별도로 프린터 셋팅을 할 필요가 없이 프린터 드라이브를 자동 변환 시켜 프린팅을 할 수 있는 방법과 장치를 제공하는 것이 본 고안의 목적이다.
이와 같은 본 발명의 목적을 달성하기 위한 첨부된 도면 제2도는 프린터의 구성을 성위한 도면으로 통합 프린터 드라이버(1)를 설치할 수 잇는 컴퓨터(PC)와 통합 프린터 드라이버(1)와 컴퓨터와 프린터의 통신을 가능케하는 양방향 패러렐 케이블(PD)과 프린터(2)로 구성되며, 상기 통합 프린터 드라이버(1)는 두 개 이상의 프린터 드라이버를 통합하여 통합 프린터 드라이브 환경을 구성하여 상기 프린터(2)에서 에러 발생시 자동으로 통합 프린터 드라이버(1) 내의 다른 프린터 드라이브로 변환해 주는 통합 프린터 드라이버로 이루어짐을 특징으로 한다.
제3도는 통합 드라이버의 작동을 설명한 도면으로서, 제3도의 (a)는 컴퓨터에 프린터 드라이버를 설치하는 셋팅 과정 중 통합 프린터 드라이버(1)는 두 개 이상의 프린터 드라이버를 내장하고 있으며, 상기 내장된 프린터 드라이버 중 설치 시 기본 설정된 프린터 드라이버를 프라임 프린터 드라이버로 설정하여 인쇄자로부터 인쇄 요구 신호가 들어오면 상기 프라임 프린터 드라이버에 우선적으로 연결된 뒤 프린터에서 정보를 출력하게 된다.
제3도의 (b)는 상기 프라임 프린터 드라이버(1a)가 메모리 오버플로우 에러, 벤딩에러 등의 메모리 관련 에러와 상기 프라임 프린터 드라이버(1a)가 지원하지 않는 응용 프로그램의 데이터를 출력시 통합 프린터 드라이버내의 프린터 드라이버들의 채널을 바꾸어, 에러 발생 시 사용자가 프린터 드라이버를 직접 바꾸어주지 않아도 자동으로 에러를 타이머 인터럽트 루틴(4)으로 시간에 따라 주기적으로 검지하여 에러의 종류를 구분하고, 상기 에러의 종류에 따라서 통합 프린터 드라이버(1) 내의 프린터 드라이버를 선택부(1c)에서 선택한다.
제4도는 프린터에 에러가 발생했을 대 프린터 드라이버를 자동으로 변환하는 통합 프린터 드라이버의 작동을 설명한 흐름도이다.
프린터에서 인쇄 신호를 입력받으면 프린터는 초기화 과정 후 기본 설정 드라이버인 프라임 드라이버를 셋팅하게 되고(S20), 문서 편집기나, 응용 프로그램의 데이터를 프린팅하는 단계(S30)와, 프린팅 도중 에러를 검지하게 되면(S40), 상기 에러의 형태가 어떤 것인지 확인한 후(S50), 프린터 드라이버의 변환으로도 처리할 수 없는 에러는 에러처리를 하게 하고, 프린터 드라이버의 변환으로 에러를 처리 할 수 있으면(예: 메모리 오버플로우 에러 또는 밴딩 에러 등의 경우) 프린터 드라이버를 변환하는 단계(S60)와 변환된 드라이버를 다시 셋팅하여 프린팅을 재시도 하는 단계(S70)로 되어 있다.
이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 프린터의 인쇄시 응답하지 않는 응용 프로그램과 메모리의 부족으로 인한 에러 발생 시 프린터의 에러를 감지하여 기본적으로 설정된 프라임 프린터 드라이버를 통합 프린터 드라이버 내의 세컨드 드라이버로 변환하여 에러를 손쉽게 해결할 수 있으며 이로 인해 어떠한 조건에서도 능률적으로 출력물을 얻을 수 있는 효과가 있다.

Claims (4)

  1. 컴퓨터 기기의 프린터 드라이버 변환 방법에 있어서, 정상적인 프린팅을 불가능하게 하는 에러의 유형을 파악하는 제1단계와, 에러의 유형을 파악한 후 통합 프린터 드라이버 내의 프린터 드라이버 채널을 변환하는 제2단계와, 변환된 프린터 드라이버를 사용 가능한 프린터 드라이버로 다시 셋팅하는 제3단계로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 프린터 드라이버의 변환 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서 상기 통합 프린터 드라이버는 프린터 드라이버를 선택하여 주는 프린터 드라이버 선택부(1c)가 있고, 적어도 2개 이상의 프린터 드라이버를 포함하여 프린터 드라이버 변환을 가능케하는 것을 특징으로 하는 프린터 드라이버의 변환 방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 프린터 드라이버 선택부(1c)는 기본값으로 셋팅되어 잇는 프린터 드라이버가 수용할 수 없는 에러가 발생했을 대 상기 에러를 보정하기 위한 수단으로 통합 프린터내의 프린터 드라이버를 변환 시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 프린터 드라이버의 변환 방법.
  4. 프린터를 구동시켜주는 통합 프린터 드라이버에 있어서, 상기 통합 프린터 드라이버내에 적어도 2개 이상의 프린터 드라이버와, 상기 프린터 드라이버를 선택해주는 프린터 드라이버 선택부(1c)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 프린터 드라이브 변환장치.
