Abstract
Description
本発明の非水電解質二次電池に用いられる負極は、少なくとも負極活物質と集電体とで構成される。負極は、必要に応じて導電助材、バインダー(結着材)を含んでいてもよい。
本発明の非水電解質二次電池に用いられる正極は、少なくとも正極混合物と集電体とで構成される。正極混合物は、少なくとも、正極活物質及びバインダーを含み、必要に応じて導電助材を含む。
本発明の非水電解質二次電池における正極の電気容量と負極の電気容量との比は、下記式(1)を満たすことが好ましい。
ただし、前記式(1)中、Aは正極1cm2あたりの電気容量を示し、Bは負極1cm2あたりの電気容量を示す。
(ただし、Cは正極の面積、Dは負極の面積を示す。)
D/Cが1未満である場合は、例えば先述のB/A=1の場合を想定すると、負極の単位面積当たりの容量が正極の単位面積当たりの容量よりも大きくなるため、過充電時に負極の電位がアルカリ金属及び/又はアルカリ土類金属の析出電位になる恐れがある。一方、D/Cが1.2より大きい場合は、正極と接していない部分の負極が大きいため、電池反応に関与しない負極活物質が副反応を起こす場合がある。正極及び負極の面積の制御は、例えば、スラリー塗工の際、塗工幅を制御することによって行うことができる。
(ただし、Eは負極の面積、Fはセパレータの面積を示す。)
F/Eが1未満である場合は、正極と負極とが接触するおそれがある。1.5より大きい場合は外装体の体積が大きくなり、電池の体積エネルギー密度が低下する場合がある。
本発明の非水電解質二次電池に用いるセパレータとしては、多孔質材料又は不織布などが挙げられるが、開孔率の調整によりリチウムイオン移動度の調整ができることと、生産性、価格の点から不織布が好ましい。セパレータの開孔率は、50%以上95%以下であることが好ましい。開孔率50%未満であると、加圧時に電極間の空隙が小さくなり保液性が低下することからサイクル性が低下する。一方、95%以上である場合、孔が大きくなりすぎ内部短絡する傾向がある。
本発明の非水電解質二次電池に用いる非水電解質は、特に限定されないが、非水溶媒に溶質を溶解させた電解液、非水溶媒に溶質を溶解させた電解液を高分子に含浸させたゲル電解質などを用いることができる。
本発明の非水電解質二次電池の正極及び負極は、集電体の両面に同じ電極を形成させた形態であってもよく、集電体の片面に正極、一方の面に負極を形成させた形態、すなわち、バイポーラ電極であってもよい。
(負極の製造)
負極活物質のLi4Ti5O12を、文献"Zero-Strain Insertion Material of Li [Li1/3Ti5/3] O4 for Rechargeable Lithium Cells" J. Electrochem. Soc., Volume 142, Issue 5, pp. 1431-1435 (1995) に記載されている方法で作製した。
正極活物質のLi1.1Al0.1Mn1.8O4を、文献"Lithium Aluminum Manganese Oxide Having Spinel-Framework Structure for Long-Life Lithium-Ion Batteries" Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters Volume9, Issue12, Pages A557 (2006) に記載されている方法で作製した。
作製された負極及び正極の各容量を以下のとおり測定した。
Li4Ti5O12/Li1.1Al0.1Mn1.8O4非水電解質二次電池を次のとおり作製した。図1に、作製された非水電解質二次電池の断面図を示す。
ブチルゴム、シリコンゴム、アルミニウム金属板を重ねた積層板21,22を用意した。
測定された容量維持率と圧力との関係を表1に示す。
厚膜電極を用いたLi4Ti5O12/Li1.1Al0.1Mn1.8O4非水電解質二次電池を次のとおり作製した。
測定された容量維持率と圧力との関係を表3に示す。

Claims (13)
- 正極、負極、セパレータ及び非水電解質を用いて構成される非水電解質二次電池であって、
前記負極は、作動電位がリチウム基準で0.3V以上2.5V以下であり、かつ負極活物質としてチタン含有酸化物を含み、
前記正極、負極及びセパレータを含んで、発電要素が構成され、
前記発電要素に0.005MPa以上3.0MPa以下の圧力が加えられていることを特徴とする、非水電解質二次電池。 - 前記正極及び負極が各々厚み50〜500μmであり、発電要素に加えられる圧力が、0.5MPa以上3.0MPa以下である、請求項1に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記正極及び負極が各々厚み500〜5000μmであり、発電要素に加えられる圧力は、0.005MPa以上0.5MPa以下である、請求項1に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記正極及び負極が各々面積80〜300cm2である、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記セパレータが不織布である、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記セパレータの開孔率が50〜95%である、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記発電要素が、正極、セパレータ、負極を積層してなり、前記発電要素の積層方向に圧力が加えられている、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記負極活物質は、チタン酸化物又はチタンの一部を他の元素で置換したもの、及び/又はリチウムチタン複合酸化物である、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 前記発電要素が、ラミネートフィルムで外装されている、請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
- 請求項1〜請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の非水電解質二次電池を複数個結合してなる二次電池モジュール。
- 正極、負極、セパレータ及び非水電解質を用いて構成される非水電解質二次電池の使用方法であって、
前記負極は、作動電位がリチウム基準で0.3V以上2.5V以下であり、かつ負極活物質としてチタン含有酸化物を含み、
前記正極、負極及びセパレータを含んで構成される発電要素に、0.005MPa以上3.0MPa以下の圧力を加え、
前記発電要素から発電される電力を取り出すことを特徴とする非水電解質二次電池の使用方法。 - 前記正極及び負極が各々厚み50〜500μmである発電要素に加えられる圧力が、0.5MPa以上3.0MPa以下である、請求項11に記載の非水電解質二次電池の使用方法。
- 前記正極及び負極が各々厚み500〜5000μmである発電要素に加えられる圧力は、0.005MPa以上0.5MPa以下である、請求項11に記載の非水電解質二次電池の使用方法。
