(1)アルミニウム粉体、または箔状樹脂に金属を被覆したものを粉砕加工して得られる粉体

これらの光輝性顔料は、金属光沢を有するため、使用対象への強い光輝感の付与を可能とし、使用対象に意匠的に優れた外観を与えることができる。
本発明の光輝性顔料は、安全性が高く、安定であり、金色調を有するので、種々の用途、例えば、化粧料、インク、塗料、または樹脂組成物等に添加されて使用される。
鱗片状ガラス基材10の形状は、使用用途によって異なり、特に限定されない。一般的には、平均粒径は1μm〜500μm、平均厚さは0.3μm〜10μmであると好ましい。平均粒径が大きすぎると、光輝性顔料が塗料や樹脂組成物等に配合される際に、鱗片状ガラス基材10が破砕される恐れがある。一方、平均粒径が小さすぎると、塗膜や樹脂成形物等中において、光輝性顔料(粒子)の主平面がランダムな方向を向いてしまい、また、個々の粒子が放つ反射光が弱くなる。このため、光輝感が損なわれてしまう。平均粒径が1μm〜500μmであれば、光輝性顔料が配合過程で破砕されることが抑制され、かつ、光輝感を高めることができる。
下地被膜20は、銀、ニッケルおよびニッケル系合金からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種の金属材料を主成分として含む。下地被膜20が銀単体を含む場合、下地被膜20は実質的に銀から形成されていてもよい。下地被膜20がニッケル単体を含む場合、下地被膜20は実質的にニッケルから形成されていてもよい。
金被膜30は、金を含んでいればよいが、実質的に金からなっていてもよい。金被膜の形成方法は特に限定されない。金被膜の形成方法としては、例えば、スパッタ法、CVD法、無電解(化学)めっき法等の方法が挙げられるが、なかでも、均一な成膜が容易な点で無電解めっき法が好ましい。
黄色被膜40は、母材と、母材に保持された黄色色素とを含む。また、黄色被膜40は、可視光線が透過可能であることも要する。黄色被膜を透過した可視光線は、下地被膜または金被膜に達して反射する。この反射により、光輝性顔料の高い光輝性が発現される。
水溶性色素の好ましい具体例としては、例えば、Color Index Generic Name(C.I.G.N)によって定められた、Acid Yellow23(日本国における法定色素名では黄色4号、以下カッコ内の色素名について同様。)、Food Yellow3(黄色5号)、Acid Yellow73(黄色202号(1)、黄色202号(2))、Acid Yellow3(黄色203号)、Acid Yellow40(黄色402号)、Acid Yellow1(黄色403号)、Acid Yellow36(黄色406号)、Acid Yellow11(黄色407号)などの黄色の酸性色素が挙げられる。
非水溶性色素の好ましい具体例としては、上記C.I.G.Nによって定められた、Acid Yellow73(黄色201号)、Solvent Yellow33(黄色204号)、Pigment Yellow12(黄色205号)、Pigment Yellow1(黄色401号)、Solvent Yellow5(黄色404号)、Solvent Yellow6(黄色405号)、Pigment Yellow110、Pigment Yellow139、Pigment Yellow150、Pigment Yellow154などの黄色顔料が挙げられる。
上述の水溶性色素を含む黄色被膜の形成方法の一例では、まず、例えば水酸化アルミニウムや水酸化ジルコニウム等の水酸化物等により被覆対象物を被覆して、母材を形成する。次いで、母材中に水溶性色素を浸透させた後、水溶性色素をレーキ化させる。水溶性色素の母材への浸透は、例えば、母材により被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材を水にてスラリー化し、このスラリーに水溶性色素を添加することにより行える。水溶性色素が添加されたスラリーを加熱することにより水溶性色素がレーキ化されるこの方法の詳細は、例えば、DE2429762、US4,084,983、特開2002−188023号公報、特開2002−194247号公報等に開示されている。
M1 1-x・M2 x(OH)2・X2/n・mH2O
ただし、式中、xは0.10≦x≦0.75の範囲の数、Xは1価または2価の酸性色素、nは1または2の原子価、mは0≦m≦30の範囲の数を表す。M1は、Mg、Mn、Fe、Co、Ni、CuおよびZnから選ばれる少なくとも1種の2価の金属であり、M2はAl、Cr、Mn、Fe、CoおよびGaから選ばれる少なくとも1種の3価の金属である。
非水溶性色素を含む黄色被膜の形成方法の一例では、まず、加水分解・縮重合可能な有機金属化合物と非水溶性色素とを含有する塗布溶液のなかに、被覆対象物を分散させる。被覆対象物は、下地被膜および金被膜によってこの順で被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材、または、下地被膜によって被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材である。そして、これらを1〜15時間攪拌し続けることにより、有機金属化合物を加水分解・縮重合させる。こうすることで、鱗片状ガラス基材の表面に非水溶性色素を含んだ皮膜を形成できる。塗布溶液中における下地被膜および金被膜によってこの順で被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材の添加量は、光輝性顔料全質量を100質量%とした場合に、1〜30質量%となるように決定すると好ましい。金被膜の質量は無視できる程度に小さいので、塗布溶液中における下地被膜によって被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材の添加量についても、光輝性顔料全質量を100質量%とした場合に、1〜30質量%となるように決定すると好ましい。
実施例1の光輝性顔料は、図1に示した例のように、鱗片状ガラス基材が、下地被膜(銀被膜)、金被膜、および黄色被膜によってこの順に被覆された構造をしている。黄色被膜を構成する母材はシリカからなる。実施例1の光輝性顔料は下記のようにして作製した。
まず、銀被膜で被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材として、日本板硝子(株)製のMC2080PSを準備した。これは、鱗片状ガラス基材が、無電解めっき法により銀被膜(厚み:20〜100nm)で覆われた構造をしている。
金被膜は、下記のように無電解めっき法によって形成した。まず、純水300mLに、還元剤としてL-アスコルビン酸ナトリウム6gと、pH調整剤としてリン酸水素二ナトリウム3gとを添加し、これらを撹拌しながら60℃に加温した。得られた溶解液に、金原料として亜硫酸金ナトリウム水溶液(濃度50g/L)13gを添加して、金めっき液を得た。
次に、下記のようにして、ゾルゲル法により、金被膜上に、黄色被膜として非水溶性の黄色顔料が分散されたシリカ被膜を形成した。
実施例2の光輝性顔料は、図2に示した例のように、鱗片状ガラス基材が、下地被膜(銀被膜)、黄色被膜、および金被膜によってこの順に被覆された構造をしている。銀被膜で被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材については、実施例1と同様にMC2080PSを用いた。黄色顔料分散シリカ被膜と金被膜の形成方法等も、実施例1におけるそれと同様にした。
実施例3の光輝性顔料は、図1に示した例のように、鱗片状ガラス基材が、下地被膜(銀被膜)、金被膜および黄色被膜によってこの順で被覆された構造をしている。実施例3の光輝性顔料は、黄色被膜に含まれる黄色色素として水溶性の黄色染料を用い、黄色被膜を構成する母材の材料として水酸化アルミニウムを用いたこと以外は、実施例1の光輝性顔料と同様である。
実施例4の光輝性顔料は、図1に示した例のように、鱗片状ガラス基材が、下地被膜(ニッケル−リン合金被膜、ニッケル原子%:85)、金被膜および黄色被膜によってこの順に被覆された構造をしている。実施例4の光輝性顔料において、被下地膜はニッケル−リン合金被膜であり、黄色被膜に含まれる黄色色素は非水溶性の黄色顔料であり、黄色被膜を構成する母材の材はシリカである。以上のこと以外は、実施例4の光輝性顔料は、実施例1の光輝性顔料と同様である。
金被膜は、下記のように無電解めっき法によって形成した。まず、純水300mLに、還元剤としてL-アスコルビン酸ナトリウム3gと、pH調整剤としてリン酸水素二ナトリウム1.5gとを添加し、これらを撹拌しながら60℃に加温して溶解した。得られた溶解液に、金原料として亜硫酸金ナトリウム水溶液(濃度50g/L)6.5gを添加して、金めっき液を得た。
次に、下記のようにして、ゾルゲル法により、金被膜上に、黄色被膜として非水溶性の黄色顔料が分散されたシリカ被膜を形成した。
実施例5の光輝性顔料は、図1に示した例のように、鱗片状ガラス基材が、下地被膜(銀被膜)、金被膜および黄色被膜によってこの順で被覆された構造をしている。実施例5の光輝性顔料は、黄色被膜に含まれる黄色色素として水溶性の黄色染料を用い、黄色被膜を構成する母材の材料としてハイドロタルサイトを用いたこと以外は、実施例1の光輝性顔料と同様である。
比較例1の光輝性顔料は、鱗片状ガラス基材が、銀被膜および黄色顔料分散シリカ被膜によってこの順で被覆された構造をしている。比較例1の光輝性顔料は、金皮膜が無いこと、および、シリカ被膜形成溶液における黄色顔料の含有量が異なること以外は、実施例1の光輝性顔料と同様である。銀被膜により被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材として、実施例1と同様にMC2080PSを用いた。シリカ被膜形成溶液は、下記のようにして調整した。黄色顔料分散シリカ被膜は、実施例1のそれと同様に形成した。
比較例2の光輝性顔料は、特開2004―352725号公報に記載された光輝性顔料であり、鱗片状ガラス基材が二酸化チタン被膜および酸化鉄被膜によりこの順で被覆された構造をしている。
Cガラスからなる鱗片状ガラス基材(日本板硝子(株)製、MC2080FF、平均粒径が80μm)30gを、333mLの蒸留水に分散した。この分散液を75℃に加熱し、分散液のpHを、希釈塩化水素酸を用いて1.6に調節した。次いで、分散液に、18質量%スズ(II)塩化物溶液7mLをゆっくり添加し、その後、四塩化チタン40質量%水溶液を100mL/hの速度で添加した。四塩化チタン水溶液の添加最中、水酸化ナトリウムの希釈水溶液を添加して、分散液のpHを1.6に保った。四塩化チタン水溶液の添加により、鱗片状ガラス基材の表面に干渉による金色が観察されるようになり、所望の金色が観察されるまで、四塩化チタン水溶液の添加を続けた。次いで、分散液からスラリー状になっている鱗片状ガラス基材を濾過し、濾過した鱗片状ガラス基材を蒸留水にて洗浄して、二酸化チタン被膜によって被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材を得た。
続いて、二酸化チタン被膜により被覆された鱗片状ガラス基材を、300mLの蒸留水に分散した。この分散液を76℃に加熱し、分散液のpHを、希釈塩化水素酸を用いて3.2に調節した。次いで、分散液に、10質量%塩化鉄(III)水溶液を0.2mL/hの速度で添加した。上記塩化鉄(III)水溶液の添加最中、水酸化ナトリウムの希釈水溶液を添加して、分散液のpHを3.2に保った。所望の金色が観察されるまで、上記塩化鉄(III)水溶液の添加を続けた。次いで、分散液からスラリー状になっている鱗片状ガラス基材を濾過し、濾過固形物を蒸留水にて洗浄した。その後、濾過固形物を600℃で焼成して、二酸化チタン被膜上にFe2O3被膜を形成した。このようにして、鱗片状ガラス基材が、二酸化チタン被膜および酸化鉄被膜によりこの順で被覆された光輝性顔料を得た。
標準例は、鱗片状ガラス基材が、銀被膜および金被膜(平均厚み10nm)によってこの順で被覆されたものである。金被膜の形成は、以下の無電解金めっき液を使用して行った。
アクリル樹脂30質量%と、有機溶剤70質量%とからなるクリア塗料(日本ペイント(株)製)に、実施例、比較例、および標準例の光輝性顔料を、其々10質量%の割合で配合し、混練機で混合した。このようにして、各塗料を作製し、各塗料を市販の白黒隠蔽紙に、塗膜の厚みが9mil(9/1000×25.4mm)となるように塗布した後、塗膜を自然乾燥させた。乾燥後の塗膜をそれぞれ評価用試料とした。

白黒隠蔽紙に塗布された塗膜について、色彩色差計(コニカミノルタセンシング(株)製、CR−400、)を用いて明度を測定した。ただし、表色系L*a*b*にて明度(L*)を測定した。その際の観察光源としてC光源を用いた。測定した白色部の明度L*(白)と、黒色部の明度L*(黒)とから、明度差(ΔL*=L*(白)-L*(黒))を算出し表1に示した。ΔL*が小さいほど、隠蔽性が優れていることを意味する。
白黒隠蔽紙に塗布された塗膜の金属光沢度は、光沢計((株)村上色彩研究所製、GM-O26PR)を用いて測定した。ただし、観察光源にはD65光源を用いた。塗膜面に対して垂直な方向から60°または20°の角度で光を入射させ、それぞれ正反射した光の光量を測定した。測定された光量値を用いて、ISO2813に基づき光沢度を算出し、表2に示した。この値が高いほど、光沢度が高いことを意味する。
図3に示すように、塗膜5の表面に対して45°の角度で光を入射可能とする位置に観察光源6を配置した。観察光源6にはD65光源を用いた。観察光源6から光を出射してディテクター7により反射光の色調を測定した。

ここで、L* 15°、L* 110°、L* 45°は、正反射の方向に対してそれぞれ15°、110°、45°ほど観察光源側に傾斜した位置で測定した明度である。各明度は表色系L*a*b*にて測定した( 図4参照)。
Claims (14)
- 鱗片状ガラス基材と、
銀、ニッケルおよびニッケル系合金からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種の金属材料を含む下地被膜と、
金を含む金被膜と、
黄色色素と、母材とを含む黄色被膜と、を含み、
前記下地被膜、前記金被膜、および前記黄色被膜は、其々層をなして前記鱗片状ガラス基材を被覆しており、前記下地被膜、前記金被膜、および前記黄色被膜のうち、前記下地被膜が最も内側に配置されていることを特徴とする金色調を有する光輝性顔料。 - 前記金被膜の膜厚が、0.5〜5nmである請求項1に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。
- 前記下地被膜が、銀を含む銀含有下地被膜であり、
前記銀含有下地被膜の膜厚が、20〜100nmである請求項1に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。 - 前記下地被膜が、ニッケルまたはニッケル系合金を含むニッケル含有下地被膜であり、
前記ニッケル含有下地被膜の膜厚が、40〜200nmである請求項1に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。 - 前記ニッケル系合金は、ニッケル−リン合金、ニッケル−タングステン−リン合金、ニッケル−鉄−タングステン−リン合金、ニッケル−コバルト合金、ニッケル−コバルト−リン合金、ニッケル−パラジウム−リン合金、ニッケル−錫−リン合金、またはニッケル−銅−リン合金である請求項1に記載の光輝性顔料。
- 前記黄色色素が水溶性色素であり、
前記母材は、水酸化アルミニウム、水酸化ジルコニウム、水酸化カルシウム、水和酸化アルミニウム、水和酸化ジルコニウム、水和酸化カルシウム、およびハイドロタルサイトからなる群からえらばれる少なくとも1種の材料を含む請求項1に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。 - 前記黄色色素が非水溶性色素であり、
前記母材は、シリカを含む請求項7に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。 - 前記水溶性色素は、Color Index Generic Nameによって定められた、Acid Yellow23、Food Yellow3、Acid Yellow73、Acid Yellow3、Acid Yellow40、Acid Yellow1、Acid Yellow36、およびAcid Yellow11からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種である請求項6に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。
- 前記非水溶性色素は、Color Index Generic Nameによって定められた、Acid Yellow73、Solvent Yellow33、Pigment Yellow12、Pigment Yellow1、Solvent Yellow5、Solvent Yellow6、Pigment Yellow110、Pigment Yellow139、Pigment Yellow150、およびPigment Yellow154からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種である請求項7に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。
- 前記鱗片状ガラス基材は、その平均粒径が1μm〜500μmであり、その平均厚さが0.3μm〜10μmである請求項1に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれかの項に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料を含有することを特徴とする化粧料。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれかの項に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料を含有することを特徴とする塗料。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれかの項に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料を含有することを特徴とするインク。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれかの項に記載の金色調を有する光輝性顔料を含有することを特徴とする樹脂組成物。
