Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate maintenance by detecting a current which flows to the grid electrode of an electrostatic charging device and outputting a photosensitive body deterioration signal when the detected grid current is deviated from a set range. CONSTITUTION:The title device installs a grid current detection means GC for detecting the current which flows to the grid electrode 10 of the electrostatic charging device 4. When the grid current detected by the grid current detection means GC is deviated from the set range, the photosensitive body deterioration signal is outputted from a photosensitive body deterioration discriminations means DD. Therefore, it can be detected whether the electrification of the photosensitive body becomes lower than that in a normal state or it becomes higher, on the contrary, by detecting that the grid current is deviated from an allowable range. Thus, the maintenance of the photosensitive body can be always executed based on the discrimination of a proper time for maintenance.
