Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate setting of copying areas by comparing the detection signals outputted from plural color sensors and the two reference signals of different levels for the purpose of detecting the instruction color differing from that of an original surface and detecting the frame of the instruction color. CONSTITUTION:The part to be copied is set on contact glass 2 by encircling the same as a copying area 8 with a frame 10 of the instruction color differing from that of the original surface, and a photosensor 20 consisting of plural color sensors CS1-CSn for detecting the frame 10 is disposed below the glass 2. A copying area detecting circuit group 30 compares the detection signals SA1, SB1- from the photosensor 20 and the two reference voltages VREF1, VREF2 outputted from a copying area instruction color setter 28, and outputs copying area signals Sc1-Scn to an undesired latent image erasing circuit group 31, by which the frame 10 of the instruction color enclosing the part to be copied is detected.
