Abstract
PURPOSE:To replenish an electrolyte to an electrolyte plate from a small hole through micropores in an electrode to stabilize the performance of a cell for a long time by dividing a reaction gas passage between a cell and a separator into small passages with a plurality of gas dividing plates, and by storing the electrolyte in an electrolyte replenishing reservoir which opens on the separator side. CONSTITUTION:An anode 2a and a cathode 2b are faced on each side of an electrolyte plate 7 in which an electrolyte of a molten carbonate fuel cell is retained. Each reaction gas passage through which each reaction gas flows is formed between a separator 1 and the outside of each of electrodes 2a, 2b. The reaction gas passage is divided into small passages 5 with a plurality of gas dividing plates 3. An electrolyte replenishing reservoir 4 which opens on the separator 1 side is formed in the small passages 5, and a small hole 6 is formed in the reservoir 4. Each small passage 5 which opens on each of electrodes 2a, 2b sides is used as the ventilation hole of reaction gas, and the electrolyte is replenished to the electrolyte plate through each of electrodes 2a, 2b.
