Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the optical response time depend upon the carrier travel speed of holes without depending upon the lifetime of holes, and to attain response at high speed by facing each other and forming a pair of electrodes to one surface of a photoconductor through an air gap while shaping a grounded auxiliary electrode onto a surface on the reverse side of the photoconductor. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary electrode 10 brought into surface-contact with one part of a photoconductor 2 is shaped onto a substrate 1 in the lower section of an electrode 6 and an N<+> layer 3 in a photosensor. The auxiliary electrode 10 is formed to a thin-film shape onto the substrate 1 through a thin-film forming means, and one end 10a of the electrode 10 is grounded through an ammeter 8 together with the electrode 6. Holes 11 formed by the photoconductor 2 can be drawn rapidly to the outside from the auxiliary electrode 10 in the photosensor composed of such constitution, the optical speed of response is determined in response to the carrier travel speed of holes 11, and the optical speed of response can be increased.
