Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance electric, optical, photoconductive and image characteristics, durability, and characteristics bearing environmental conditions by incorporating Al, Si, and H into a lower layer in a nonuniform distribution in the layer thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptive layer 102 formed on a supporting body 101 comprises the lower layer 103 made of an inorganic material containing as at least elementary constituents, Al, Si, and H, and at least one of Ge and Sn, and having a part containing Al, Si, and H in a nonuniform distribution in the layer thickness direction, and an upper layer 104 made of a nonmonocrystalline material containing Si as a base, and at least one of H and halogen and containing at least one of C, N, and O into a layer region in contact with the lower layer 103, thus permitting each of electric, optical, photoconductive, and image characteristics, durability, and characteristics bearing environmental conditions to be enhanced.
