Abstract
PURPOSE:To execute the transfer and reception of electrons between enzyme and electrode with high efficiency without requiring a mediator by dispersing and holding fine metal particles into an org. matrix formed on a thin metallic film electrode. CONSTITUTION:The thin metallic film electrode 2 is formed on the surface of a semiconductor substrate 1 and the parts except said electrode are coated with a non-conductive material 3. The semiconductor substrate 1, a counter electrode 9 and a reference electrode 10 are immersed into a soln. 8 contg. the enzyme and org. monomer metal ions. A prescribed voltage is impressed between the thin metallic film electrode 2 and the counter electrode 9 with the reference electrode 10 as a reference by a potentiostat 11 to electrolytically polymerize the org. monomer in the soln. 8. Light 12 is simultaneously projected from the outside on the semiconductor substrate 1, by which the metal ions in the soln. 8 are reduced. The org. matrix 4 is formed on the surface of the thin metallic film electrode 2 and the fine metal particles 5 and the enzyme 6 are taken therein. The enzyme immobilized electrode in which said particles and enzyme are nearly uniformly dispersed and held is thus obtd.
