Abstract

PURPOSE:To make small the device and to reduce the power consumption, by constituting the light source with a linear discharge tube having the light emitting means which emits light through band shape electron beams from a linear electronic source. CONSTITUTION:In the constrcution of a linear electron source, conductive aquaduck 32 is coated on the upper surface in the glass tube 31, and a cathode line 33 consisting of tungsten coated with thermal electron emission material is suspended beneath it, and a band shape electron beam pickup electrode 34 is located further below it. The band shape electron beam pickup electrode 34 is constituted with the metal plate along the cathode line 33 having the slit in the center. Further, the light emitting means is formed by coating a glass base 35 with a fluorescent substance 36 and metallizing the surface with aluminum thin film.
