Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the mass production of the captioned cathode-ray tube at a low cost, by dividing into a plural number, the luminescent surface of said cathode-ray tube which is to be picture element, thereby making plural elementary colors to be emitted by means of only one cathode-ray tube, thus halving the visible distance of said cathode -ray tube and by incorporating an electron gun and a luminescent surface target into one united body, with regard to said cathode-ray tube for the polychromatic display type light source which constitutes the picture element of a huge display device used outdoors. CONSTITUTION:For example, by a silk-screen method, transparent glass plate 10a and 10b are coated with predetermined luminous colored phosphors 2a and 2b that are emitted by 2 electron guns 4a and 4b which are placed inside a vacuum enclosure 1 and generate non-focusing electron beams 3a and 3b and that are emitted by the irradiation of electron beams 3a and 3b from respective electron guns in order to form luminescent surface targets 11a dnd 11b on which surface the aluminum thin films are vacuum-evaporated, on the other hand, said luminous surface targets 11a and 11b are installed on the tips of cylindrical anode electrodes 12a and 12b of respective electron guns 4a and 4b; thus said cathode-ray tubes 31 and 32 can be constituted.
