Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the gas convection in a piping, to reduce the intrusion of heat into a cooling medium vessel, and to obtain the low temperature container to be used for a superconducting magnet, in which a convection preventing device is not damaged by discharged gas by a method wherein the gas convection preventing device is formed using a material having low heat conductivity, and the device is composed of a cylindrical body having a number of small holes in the axial direction of a tube. CONSTITUTION:A gas convection preventing device 9 is formed by inserting a cylindrical body, consisting of a plurality of pipes 10 of small diameter and thin wall made of the material of low heat conductivity such as fiber-reinforced plastic and ties up in a bundle, into a piping 5. As the piping 5 is divided into small sections with a plurality of pipes 10, the convection of gas in the piping can be suppressed, and the transmission of heat to a cooling medium vessel 1 by the gas convection can be reduced. Also, as the aperture area in the piping 5 is secured, boiled up and evaporated helium gas is circulated in the piping 5 without hindrance, and it is released through a safety valve 6.
