Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the frost over crops by inserting one end of a heat pipe to a prescribed depth into the earth for cultivating crops and arranging other end on the surface of said earth.
CONSTITUTION: One end 1A of an inverted L-shaped heat pipe 1 is arranged in approximately parallel with the earth surface of the field on or adjacent to the earth surface, and the other end 1B is inserted into the earth to a depth of about 6m or more. A medium such as Fron is sealed within the heat pipe 1, a wick 2 is provided on a inner wall of the heat pipe 1 in parallel with a longitudinal axis thereof, and radiation fins 3 extend from a portion 1A. Inthis constitution when the earth surface is cooled to a temperature of about 6W10°C at night, the earth surface will be heated by heat transfer action of the heat pipe 1 since the earth temperature on the side of the end 1B of the heat pipe will be about 15°C, so that an air convection will be induced around the earth surface, and the temperature of the earth surface will not become the dew point thereby preventing the frosting.
