Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a heat resistant magnetic scale without deenergization even at a high temperature, by placing a material on a heat resistant substrate differing in the quality therefrom to mix the substrate with the material with the application of heat to the substrate together with the material. CONSTITUTION:A powder of magnetic material, for example, iron powder is applied on a plate-shaped non-magnetic stainless SUS 304 substrate 1, and then, when it is irradiated with a laser beam, the portion irradiation is melted rapidly by heat to fuse the iron powder into the stainless substrate. Subsequently, as the laser beam moves, the portion thus far irradiated is cooled rapidly to solidify. Thus, as subjected to a rapid solidification by cooling, the magnetic grating thus formed has an extreme residual stress force caused to generate a large residual magnetization by magnetization with a larger coercive force. This stabilizes this method as compared with the conventional type. Moreover, having the Curie point of more than 100 deg.C, a magnetic layer 2 provides a heat resistance without losing magnetism though exposed to a high temperature.
