Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate a reduction in its performance to obtain a photovoltaic element having stable characteristics and to raise mass production effect by forming multi-stage baking boats to bake an element substrate printed with carbon paste on a CdTe sintered film and supplying N2 from the side face of a muffle. CONSTITUTION:The shape of a baking boat is so formed as to uniformly bring N2 inert gas from its side face into contact with a carbon film. Multi-stage baking boats 9 are formed of a substrate supporting base 10 and stoppers 11. Numeral 12 denotes a glass substrate, and numeral 13 denotes a CdS/CdTe-C element. Paste mixed with small amount of CuO to carbon paste is screen printed on a CdTe film, dried, and baked by the boats 9 in an N2 inert atmosphere by 1000-8000ppm of oxygen concentration in a baking furnace. A supply port 24 for N2 gas is so provided on the side face in a muffle that the carbon film of the substrate becomes uniform in the N2 gas, and baked in the multi- stage baking boats. Thus, a carbon baked film is obtained.
