PURPOSE:To enable a high temperature oxide superconducting material to be easily patterned, by selectively irradiating a thin film of a Cu-O superconducting material with energy beams to convert the areas which are selectively directed into non-superconducting areas. CONSTITUTION:A thin film 21 of a Cu-O superconducting material is first formed on an insulating substrate 1, and the resulted thin film 21 of a Cu-O superconducting material is then selectively irradiated with energy beams to convert the areas which are selectively directed into non-superconducting areas 22. That is, for a high temperature oxide superconducting material of a Cu-O superconducting material or the like comprising a YBaCuO superconducting material and the like, the selection of an annealing temperature is especially important. For example, the YBaCuO superconducting material is resolved or fused into a non-superconducting material at the annealing temperature above 1100 deg.C. Accordingly, the high temperature oxide superconducting material can be easily patterned without special masking and etching processes being employed.
