Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent surface stains, and obtain excellent peel resistance and enable intermediate tones to be easily reproduced, by using a wax obtained by a reaction of an alkyl alcohol with a diisocyanate or triisocyanate, as a binder component. CONSTITUTION:A wax obtained by a reaction of an alkyl alcohol with a diisocyanate or triisocyanate is used as a binder component, in a thermal transfer recording medium which comprises on a base a heat-fusible ink layer comprising a coloring material for thermal transfer and a binder component as main constituents. The alkyl alcohol component, one of the starting materials for the wax, is a 31-60C compound, the alkyl being preferably a straight chain form alkyl having few branched parts. When this wax is used in the ink layer in an amount of ordinarily 30-100wt.% based on the binder component, the recording medium obtained is free of delamination of the ink layer, gives clear prints upon printing, and ensures easy reproduction of intermediate tones.
