PURPOSE:To obtain the title sheet capable of recording even on an ordinary paper and capable of gradational recording, by providing a dye layer and a base film for preventing leakage of the dye layer, with the base film being disposed on the side of the dye layer whose side is opposed to a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:When a transfer type thermal recording sheet 3 is heated from the side of a base film 1, a dye 4 is sublimed or melted, and is moved onto a recording medium. At this time, at least one 9 of a wax and a low melting point resin is also melted, is mixed with the dye 4 either during migration through the dye layer 2 or on the recording medium, and the mixture is fixed on the recording medium. Thus, there is no need for a resin layer on the record ing medium, which layer is frequently used for dye transfer type recording media. A dispersant 10 is used, whereby the dye is gradually diffused into pores formed in the dispersant, giving a gradational property. Since at least one kind 9 of the wax and the low melting point resin is melted together with the dye and transferred to the recording medium, it allows recording even if composed of paper because ingredients fix on the fiber of paper.
