Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a heat-sensitive recording material which has excellent binding force, waterproofness and is not released by water droplets or the like, by incorporating an amide derivative of an isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer as a binder together with a leuco dye and an organic acidic substance in a heat-sensitive coloring layer. CONSTITUTION:In a heat-sensitive coloring layer containing an organic acidic substance, a leuco dye and a binder, an amide derivative of an isobutylene- maleic anhydric copolymer[e.g., one having a repeating unit represented by the formula, where R1 and R2 each represents H or 1-10C (substituted)alkyl]is incorporated as at least a part of the binder, preferably in amounts by weight 0.8-2 times as much as the leuco dye. This layer is provided on a support to prepare the title material. Other binders such as PVA, may also be added, as required, and the total amount of binders is preferably 5-20wt% of the layer. EFFECT:The material does not undergo oozing on heating, and no sludge is adhered to the thermal head or the like.
