Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform efficient electric discharge machining by carrying out clamping with a clamp circuit when interpolar voltage is larger than clamp voltage, and regenerating current in a fixed current circuit when the interpolar voltage is large than the clamp voltage. CONSTITUTION:Current is intermittently supplied between an electrode 1 and a work-piece 2 from a fixed current circuit 10 by turning on and off a switching transistor 12 with a control circuit 15 for electric discharge machining. Also, when interpolar voltage VG is higher than clamp voltage VC across a clamp condenser 22, the turning-on and-off of a transistor 31 is controlled by a control circuit 32 of a DC converter 30 to perform clamping with a clamp circuit 20. Current I4 flowing when the interpolar voltage VG is larger than the clamp voltage VC is regenerated in the fixed current circuit 10 by controllably turning on and off a transistor 4 with a control circuit 8. thus, power consumption in a resistor of a conventional power supply device is obviated and efficient electric discharge machining can be performed.
