Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of sulfate corrosion, by a method wherein a plurality of tanks to respectively store a plurality of kinds of lubricating oil in different amounts of additives added and a mixing device to mix together kinds of the lubricating oil fed from the respective tanks according to the sulfur content of fuel are provided. CONSTITUTION:Fuel F and lubricating oil Oc are fed to an internal combustion engine, e.g. a marine diesel main engine 1, through a plurality of lines 2 and 3. In this case, a first tank 4 to store a lubricant Oa to which a relatively small amount of additives, e.g. basic detergent-dispersants, are added and a second tank 5 to store a lubricant Ob to which a relative large amount of additives, e.g. basic detergent-dispersants, are added are respectively installed. An oil mixing device 6 to mix together kinds of lubricating oil Oa and Ob so that TBN is adjusted to a value optimum to the sulfur content of the fuel F is provided. A device 7 to detect the sulfur content of the fuel F is situated in the bypass of a line 2, and based on a detecting signal from the device, a delivery amount of each of a plurality of pumps 8a and 8b is controlled by means of a controller 9.
