Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish improvement of the working atmosphere and prevent the production of yellow turbid water, by forming sandy glass powder consisting mainly of a specific alkali metal borate, containing, specified proportion of the powder with specific size distribution. CONSTITUTION:The objective slag-treating agent i.e. glass powder consisting mainly of an alkali metal borate of general formula: Me2.nB2O3 (Me is at least one kind of alkali metal selected from Li, Na and K; n is mole number of 1-10), containing >=90wt.% of the powder with the size ranging from 0.1-5mm. When added to molten slag, this treating agent can be incorporated rapidly with fluidity to effect suppression of dust generation, thus preventing the production of yellow turbid water due to quick dissolution and diffusion of the agent into the slag along with improving the working atmosphere.
