Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the inclusion of molten powder of a Ti-contg. steel ingot and to improve conditioning and yield by compounding BaO in place of CaO of powder for casting of CaO-SiO2 type and limiting the radio of BaO/SiO2. CONSTITUTION:This powder contains 58-75% BaO+SiO2 by weight, 7-23% TiO2, 2-15% Al2O3, 6.6-8.3% Na<+>, 5.4-6.8% F<->, and 1.0-3.0 BaO/SiO2. Next, this is thoroughly melted at above its m. temp., after which it is water-granulated or is cooled to lump shapes and is used in the form of powder obtd. by grinding such lumps, or further the powder is worked to granules and is used in this state. The similar effect is also obtained as far as the amts. of Na<+> and F<-> are assured despite the use of NaF as the sources for Na<+> and F<->.
