Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide lining glass having a specified composition consisting of SiO2, Al2O3, Zr2O3, Li2O, etc., suitable for glass-lining a steel pipe, a container, etc., and exhibiting superior corrosion and alkali resistances.
CONSTITUTION: At least 98% of this glass consists of, by wt., SiO2 55W65%, Al2O3 0W2%, ZrO2 15W20%, CaO 0W5%, MgO 0W5% (CaO+MgO 0W5%), Li2O 1W6%, Na2O 10W18% and K2O 0W5% (Li2O+K2O 14W20%), and the residual 2% contains B2O3, As2O3, Sb2O3, SO3, Fe2O3, TiO2, etc. This glass has a low softening point, is coordinate with steel in thermal expansion coefft., and exhibits high corrosion and alkali resistances, so it is suitable for use as glass for lining a metal pipe, etc.
