Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish improvement of the working atmosphere and prevent the production of yellow turbid water, by forming sandy glass powder consisting mainly of alkaline earth metal salt having specific oxide composition with specified size distribution. CONSTITUTION:The objective slag-treating agent i.e. sandy glass powder consisting mainly of alkaline earth metal borosilicate of formula MeO-B2O3-SiO2 (Me is alkaline earth metal selected from Mg, Ca and Sr) with a composition being 5-40wt.% of MeO, 20-8wt.% of B2O3, 10-60wt.% of SiO2 and 0-20wt.% of the other components, containing >=90wt.% of the powder with the size ranging from 0.1-5mm. Said sandy powder as the treating agent can dissolve in slag quickly, preventing e.g. degassing reaction. Furthermore, substitution of the S ion in the slag by B ion will prevent the production of yellow turbid water along with improvement of the working atmosphere.
