Abstract
PURPOSE:To accomplish improvement of the working atmosphere and prevent the production of yellow turbid water, by forming sandy glass powder consisting mainly of a specific borosilic acid, containing specified proportion of the powder with specific size distribution. CONSTITUTION:The objective slag-treating agent i.e. glass powder consisting mainly of borosilicic acid of formula SiO2.nB2O3 (n is mole number of 1-9), containing >=90wt.% of the powder with the size ranging from 0.1-5mm. When added to molten slag, the glass powder can melt and diffuse quickly into the slag, causing no degassing reaction such as carbon dioxide elimination. Furthermore, substitution of the S ion by B ion is effectively promoted, thus freeing dust generation etc. leading to improvement of the working atmosphere along with prevention of the production of yellow turbid water.
