Abstract

PURPOSE: To lower the melting point of slag, improve fluidity and prevent any fault owing to the slag from occuring in the next process by adding silicic acid and iron oxide at the specific ratios to the steel making slag.
CONSTITUTION: Steel making slag containing unslagged lime or magnesia or containing much CaO has high melting points and poor fluidity; therefore if this is flowed into the next process, its discharge is difficult and this becomes the cause for various faults. In order to prevent this, SiO2-base ore, fly ash, etc. as well as iron scraps, iron ore, etc. are added to the steel making slag so that the composition of the slag becomes CaO<10W35%, SiO2<5%, FeO; 60W90%. In addition, a melting point lowering agent such as alkali metals, compounds of alkaline earth metals, fluorides, alkali carbonate and borate is added thereto, besides the above. These additives are blown together with a desulfurizer into the molten steel 3 through a lance 1, whereby the fluidity of the molten slag 4 may be improved and the desulfurizing effect may be improved.
