Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain accurate three-dimensional plane data by calculating the distance from a reference plane to an object plane and the extent of inclination of the object plane from pieces of position detection information on the four intersections of parallel crosses obtained by a couple of optical position detecting elements. CONSTITUTION:Light beams emitted by light emission sources LD1 and LD2 are converted optically by cylindrical lenses CL1 and CL2 into belt-like parallel light beams to form parallel spots SP1 and SP2 on the surface DP to be measured. The couple of linear optical position detecting elements PSD1 and PSD2 are arranged for those parallel spots SP1 and SP2 so that their visual fields cross said spots on the object plane DP in parallel crosses, for example, at right angles. Then an arithmetic means calculates the distance from the reference plane to the object plane DP and the extent of inclination of the object plane from the pieces of position detection information on the four intersections (1, 1), (1, 2), (2, 1), and (2, 2) of the parallel crosses by those position detecting elements PSD1 and PSD2.
