Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate extrusion of a metal having a large deformation resistance without causing a fire in a pressure medium by coating a low temp. coating material on a billet through a prescribed heat insulating effective layer. CONSTITUTION:The metal having the large deformation resistance, for instance, a billet 1 of titanium material is heated to a high temperature. A copper coating material 2 is coated at once on this titanium billet 1. In this case, a copper foil having a prescribed thickness is wound at the front and rear ends between the billet 1 and the copper coating material 2 to form an air heat insulating effective layer 3 having a uniform clearance. Therefore, a temp. fall of the inner billet is prevented. In this state, it is thrown into a container and worked by the hydraulic extrusion. But, as the external temp. has fallen, when it is brought into contact with the pressure medium of a castol oil, combustion phenomenon does not appear and moreover, the internal titanium is kept at a high temp., the deformation resistance is not increased, so the extrusion is easily performed with a high extrusion ratio.
