Abstract
PURPOSE:To form plated layers made of different metals on both surfaces of a hoop by one set of plating apparatus by leading the hoop heated to a temp. not lower than the m.p. of the plating metal to a plating chamber having reducing atmosphere and maintained at a specific temp., where its both surfaces are brought into contact with rotating coating rolls respectively. CONSTITUTION:A hoop 2 pretreated by heating it at a temp. not lower than m.p. of the plating metal is led through seal rolls 3 to the first plating chamber 4 which has reducing or nonoxidizing atmosphere and is maintained at a temp. not lower than the m.p. described above, where the hoop is brought into contact with a rotating coating roll 6. To the coating roll 6 is delivered molten metal from a melting chamber 8 by means of a pump 9 through a pick up roll 11 to form uniform thin layer on the peripheral surface of the coating roll 6, thereby forming desired plated coating on one surface of the hoop 2. Subsequently, the hoop 2 is led to the second plating chamber 14 maintained under the same conditions as that of the first plating chamber where the other surface of the hoop 2 is plated with another metal by the second coating roll 17. This method is very effective when different kinds of plating layers are formed on both sides of a hoop respectively in accordance with the use conditions.
