Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect an arm short-circuit accident quickly and exactly, by setting general current detecting means for detecting anode reactor current and energy recovery circuit current with polarities for cancelling them each other. CONSTITUTION:To GTO thyristors 30, 50 as the semiconductor switch elements of an inverter, reflux diodes 31, 51 are respectively connected in counter-parallel with each other, and the snubber circuits of snubber capacitors 32, 52 and snubber diodes 32D, 52D are arranged in parallel with each other, and anode reactors 33, 53 are connected in series. The storage energy of the anode reactors 33, 53 and the snubber capacitors 32, 52 is recovered to auxiliary power sources 35, 55 via respective auxiliary diodes 34, 54. In this case, a device is composed so that the current of the anode reactors 33(53) and the current of an energy recovery circuit may be detected in a batch by general current detectors 39(59) as respective arm current detecting means. As a result, accident current can be identified even if the set time of mask signal is not lengthened.
