Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of a PWM inverter by employing only a set of a high speed breaker and a DC reactor in all inverter device. CONSTITUTION:Basic devices (controlled power source) S1, S6 are connected in series for each two devices, three series circuits thus connected are connected in parallel with each other, a breaker Sw operated by the shortcircuit current and a DC reactor L are connected in series between the terminals X and Y, and with the common connecting points U, V, W of the respective sets of the controllable power sources as output terminals three sets of AC motors M are connected thereto. When the devices S1 and S4, S3 and S6, or S5 and S2 are simultaneously conducted ON due to an erroneous operation, a shortcircuit current flows through the series circuit (protecting circuit) of the reactor L and the breaker Sw. In this case, the DC reactor L serves to delay or suppress the rise of the shortcircuit current, allowing a current detector CT to detect the shortcircuit current in the meantime to detect the defect in advance, thereby controlling the devices S1 to S6 to suppress the current. When it is impossible, the breaker Sw is operated by an electromagnetic device MC to break the series circuit so as to protect it.
