Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the outflow of heat to an adjacent dot and to enhance printing image quality, by making the film thickness of the common electrode of a thick film type thermal head using a strip like resistor thicker than the film thickness of an individual electrode. CONSTITUTION:For example, a gold paste is printed on a glazed alumina substrate as a conductor by screen printing to be baked and a common electrode 2-1 is formed by the patterning due to photolithographic etching. The gold paste is printed an the entire surface of the substrate 1 as a conductor by screen printing to be baked, and a common electrode 2-2 and individual electrodes 3 are simultaneously formed by the patterning due to photolithographic etching. Further, a strip like resistor 4 is formed on the electrodes 2, 3 by screen printing. An over-glaze layer is printed as the protective treatment layer of the substrate 1 and baked to obtain a thermal head wherein the film thickness of the common electrode 3 is larger than that of each of the individual electrodes 3. By this method, the heat separation between adjacent dots can be made more perfect.
