Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve an accurate display, by correcting detection characteristic with the amount of fuel at the full capacity as initial reference value. CONSTITUTION:A liquid level detection means 10 is set in a fuel tank to detect the liquid level of the fuel and a fuel consumption is measured by a fuel consumption measuring means 12. Outputs of the means 10 and 12 are inputted into a residual fuel computing means 14 and a fuel consumption measured value is subtracted from an initial reference value determined on the basis of a specified detection characteristic to calculate a residual fuel. At the same time, the fuel consumption measured value is compared with a liquid level detection value as obtained when the liquid level is stable to correct conversion characteristic. A full capacity state detection means 18 is provided in the fuel tank to detect the full capacity state thereof and an output of the means 18 is inputted into the means 14 to correct detection characteristic with the amount of fuel at the full capacity as initial reference value. Thus, output errors due to variations in the production and mounting of the tank and a sensor are absorbed, thereby enabling accurate display of the amount of residual fuel.
