Abstract

PURPOSE: To lessen thermal fatigue damage significantly by spraying a quantity of water determined from the temperature difference when the main steam temperature exceeds a rated level to a superheating temperature lowering unit otherwise spraying a specified small quantity of water. CONSTITUTION: A superheater spray control valve 16 is controlled to spray a quantity of water determined from the temperature difference when the main steam temperature in a main steam pipe 13 exceeds a rated level into a superheater temperature, lowering unit 10. The superheater spray control valve 16 is provided with a so-called minimum lock in order to inject a minimum required superheater spray water when the main steam temperature is lower than the rated level thus preventing full closure. According to the arrangement, temperature variation of a superheater spray nozzle can be lessened significantly and thermal fatigue thereof can be substantially eliminated.
