Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 ［発明の利用分野］ 本発明は画像形成装置、特に記録電極と記録媒体間に電
圧を印加し、その間を通過する導電性磁性トナー粒子を
静電気力で記録媒体に付着させるを武のプリンターやデ
ィスグレイ装置等のｕＴｌ形成装置に関するものである
。
［発明の背景コ このような画像形成装置としては特公昭５１−４６７０
７号公報等で知られるような装置がある。
これは、第４図に示すように、導電性磁性トナー１を、
回転磁石２により、その周囲を取巻く静止した非磁性円
筒３上を搬送しく該トナー１の搬送方向は磁石２の回転
方向と逆になる）、該円筒３上に絶縁性斜面部材１０で
列状に配列固定された磁性体で構成される記録側１４上
をトナーの槍の形をとって通過させ、このとき、記録′
電極群と近接して配置された表面に絶縁層６を有する記
録媒体５の導電層７と記録１極群４との間に電圧を画像
信号に応じて印加し、こレニよシ、トナーのａ！を通じ
てその先端のトナーに注入された電荷と記録媒体５の絶
縁層６上の誘起電荷との静電引力により、記録媒体ヘト
ナーの穂の先端のトナーを磁石２の磁気引力に打ち勝っ
て付着させて画像を形成するものである。
ところで、第５図に拡大図示したように、本来この種の
画像装置においては、トナーｌで記録媒体５を摺擦して
お９、また、穂立ちしたトナーが記録電極４から記録媒
体５に向けて広がっているため、記録電極４に電圧が印
加されるとトナーを介して記録媒体５上に必要範囲以上
に’！荷の授受が行なわれて、第６図に示すように印字
部のまわり、または、それ以外の箇所にトナーが付着す
る欠点があった。さらにトナーと記録媒体５との間にお
ける＃電気による引力が必要範囲以上であるため、トナ
ーによる摺擦によって記録媒体５が汚れやすく、劣化が
早まるなどの欠点があった。
［発明の目的］ 本発明は前記型式の画像形成装置において上記欠点を除
去し、画質の向上訃よび記録媒体の寿命の向上を図るこ
とを目的とする。
［発明の概要］ 本発明は導電性磁性トナーをその表面上で搬送する非磁
性円筒、該円浦内の回転磁石、該円筒の表面上に配列固
定された磁性の記録電極群、該記録電極群と近接対向し
て相対的に移動する記録媒体、および該記録電極と記録
媒体との間に画像信号に応じ電圧全印加する手段を備え
た画像形成装置において、上記の記録電極群の先端部と
近接し且つそれとは絶縁された導電層を上記記録電極群
よりトナー搬送方向上流側にて上記円筒の表面上に設け
、該導電層を上記記録媒体の導シ性基体と同電位にした
ことを特徴とする。
［発明の実施例］ 第１図に本発明による実施例を示す。図示の電極部以外
の構成は第４図と同様であるから、その図示および説明
は省略する。第２図は電極部拡大図である。第１図、第
２図において、ｌは導電性磁性トナー、２は回転磁石、
３は非磁性円筒、４は該円筒上に設けられた記録電極群
、５は記録媒体、６および７は夫々記録媒体５の誘電層
および導゛１層、９は絶縁性斜面１３上の絶縁層、８は
該絶縁層９上の導電層を示す。記録電極４は磁性の導電
体調であ）、その先端は露出している。導′１層８は記
録電極４の近傍まで延びているが、絶縁層９の介在によ
シ、記録電極とは電気的に接触していない。導′１層８
は記録媒体５の導電層７と同′電位（本例では接地１位
）にされている。
磁石２の回転によシミ極４上に搬送されたトナーは低抵
抗磁性トナー（ｌＯ３〜１０’Ω−α）であシ、第４図
で説明し九と同様に、電極４からの電荷の注入により静
電気力によって記録媒体５に付着する。トナーの穂は電
極４から記録媒体５に向かって広がっている。従来にお
いては、第５図に示す如く電荷注入されたトナーが広範
囲に記録媒体と接触するので、不必要な画像領域にもト
ナーの付着が生じてしまう。これに対し、本発明実施例
では第２図の如く電極４と記録媒体５の最近接位置にお
いて電極４上ｔ＝１００μＴｎ〜５Ｗｍ、好ましくは１
００μ？？Ｌ　〜２　ｖｍの範囲を導電性電極にしてお
き、それよりトナー搬送方向上流側の導電層８を接地す
ることにょシ、トナーへの不必要な電荷注入は生ずるこ
となく必要な領域にのみトナーが付着する。またトナー
と記録媒体５との間に働く静′１気力による引力の範囲
は本発明実施例による構成の方が従来より狭いため、ト
ナーの摺擦による記録媒体への負担が軽くなる。
第３図は本発明の別の実施例である。非磁性円筒部材３
上に絶縁性斜面部材１３に隣接した磁性体片１４ｆｃ設
ける。磁性体片１４は記録部で磁性トナーがよシ強く櫨
状になるようにする為のものであり、非磁性でも記録は
可能である。
この上に、絶縁性ベースｌｌ上に電極群状に・９ターニ
ングされた導電層１０を有するフレキシブルグリント板
１２を接着しである。導電層ｌＯは前記の記録１極群４
の役目を果たす。この上にさらに絶縁層９を介して導電
層８を設ける。
記録成極＃を成す導電層１０は記録に必要な領域のみ露
出し、他の領域は絶縁層９を介して導電層８によシ覆わ
れるため記録媒体５への不要なトナーの付着が防止され
る。導電層８は記録媒体の導電層７と同じ電位（本例で
は接地電位）としてこれによシ、記録媒体５への不要な
トナーの付着が防止されるのである。
口発明の効果コ 以上説明したように、本発明の構成によれば、記録媒体
上の必要なところにのみトナーが付着し、記録媒体の余
計な箇所にはトナーが付着することなく、鮮明な画像が
得られる。さらに本発明の構成によって、記録媒体のト
ナー摺擦による負荷が軽減できるので記録媒体の劣化が
抑えられる。

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 導電性磁性トナーをその表面上で搬送する非磁性円筒、
    該円筒内の回転磁石、該円筒の表面上に配列固定された
    磁性の記録電極群、該記録電極群と近接対向して相対的
    に移動する記録媒体、および該記録電極と記録媒体との
    間に画像信号に応じ電圧を印加する手段を備えた画像形
    成装置において、上記の記録電極群の先端部と近接し且
    つそれとは絶縁された導電層を上記記録電極群よりトナ
    ー搬送方向上流側にて上記円筒の表面上に設け、該導電
    層を上記記録媒体の導電性基体と同電位にしたことを特
    徴とする画像形成装置。
