Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 図面について特に第1図について説明すると、回転可能
に装置されたローラ1−2を含む高周波振動溶着又は継
合せ装置10が示されており、前記ローラの表面にはピ
ン14形の浮彫りにされた溶着面が一定の型で装着され
ており、ロング他の特許を参照されたい。−列に並置さ
れた高周波共振器16はローラ12と対面して配置入れ
、前記ローラとニップ(挾み部)が形成され、それを通
って溶着されるべきシート材]8が供給される。各共振
器16は電気音響変換器20に機械的に結合されており
、前記電気音響変換器は適当なエネルギー源、図示され
ていない、からの電気的な高周波エネルギーを受けいれ
、付属する共振器の入力面22に高周波機械的振動を提
供しそれによって反対側に配置されている共振器の出力
面24によって増幅された高周波振動がシート材18に
伝達される。その結果ニップを通過するシー!・材はロ
ーラ12上の型]4に従って溶着される。注目すべきこ
とは一列の共振器16の存在であり、シート材18か溶
着される場所であるニップを通って移動する時にシート
材に溶着されていない部分が残らないことであり、共振
器の並置された横側面が相接する関係になるような共振
器断面を使用することが提案されたことである。第2図
は前記ゴールドマンによって提案された断面を示す。第
2図(a)は台形断面の共振器の示し、第2図(b)は
上部と下部が延長された長方形断面の共振器を示し、第
2図(c)はT形の断面、第2図(d)は平行四辺形断
面を示す。各実施例において、シート材がローラと共振
器の間のニップを通る方向から観察された時、各共振器
は一列に又は各横側面が相接して配置される。
しかしながら第2図に図示されているように、かかる設
計によって組立てられた共振器は動的に不平衡であると
いう深刻な欠点に悩まされており、かかる条件によって
極めて望ましくない歪んだモードの振動が生ずることと
なる。かかる振動はこの型の共振器が作動される時の高
い加速力と機械的利得のために、このような深刻な問題
である非平衡を生じさせ、不必要な応力と付属する変換
器20の破壊と同様共振器自身の破壊に至る。非平衡状
態は第2図に概略的に図示されており、同図に於て共振
器の横軸が引かれ符号26が付けられている。共振器の
横軸26の上側と下側の共振器の断面部分は斜めの斜線
で示されており、歪んだ振動の発生の原因となる深刻な
非平衡が存在することが指摘されるであろう。
ここで使われる共振器の「横軸」は、共振器の縦軸27
(第5図)に対して垂直に位置しており、共振器の長手
側面28及び30又は28′及び30′に関して中央に
位置する軸として定義され、第2図及び第4図を参照さ
れたい。
かつて存在した問題は第3図、第4図及び第5図に示さ
れる共振器の構造によって克服された。
共振器16は基本的には方形共振器であり、1987年
3月17日にハリスイ也(E 、 A 、 Harrf
sei at )に付与された発明の名称が“Reso

Motjonal 0utput ”= 10− である米国特許第4,651..043号に示され記述
されており第2図を見られたい。かかる共振器はその入
力面32に適応された所定の周波数の高周波振動に対し
て半波長の共振器として共振するように寸法が定められ
ており、その振動によってその入力面と反対側に配置さ
れた出力面34は縦方向に運動し、それによって前記出
力面に強制的に接触されたシート材に対して振動が伝え
られる。この条件下で、入力面32と出力面34は縦方
向の振動の層領域に配置されている。典型的な実施例に
於ては、共振器は振動数20 kHzで共振するように
寸法が定められている。
しかしながら共振器は他の適切な高周波数、典型的には
16 kHzと1−00 kHzの間の領域の振動数で
共振するように設計されることがある。
ここで開示された共振器の構造に於ける改良は出力面3
4から横に延在する耳部36の構造に存在する。
重要なことは耳部は共振器の横軸26に関するモーメン
トの総量が実質的に0に、即ち質量の増加分に横軸26
からの距離をかけたものの総和が実質的に0になるよう
に設計されていることである。別の表現をすれば、横軸
26の上部のモーメントは軸26の下部のモーメントに
等しい、第6図を見られたい。かくして動的に平衡され
た条件が達成され、それによって望ましくない歪んだ共
振が発生することが避けられる。
第7図には並置された共振器16の相接する位置関係が
示されており、各共振器は一列に配置されていることが
示されている。並置された共振器16Aの耳部36の横
側端面38と共振器16 Bの耳部36の横側端面38
は相接する位置関係に配置されている。溶着されるべき
シート材がローラ12と共振器16 A及び16Bの間
のニップを通って矢印40の方向へ共振器の下を通過す
る時、シート材の全ての部分は実質的に隙間を残すこと
なしに溶着される。
第1図に示される装置即ち一本のロールと一列の共振器
が使われる時、シート材の溶着は実質的に共振器の横軸
26に一致する直線に沿って起きる。
実質的に隙間を残すことなしに溶着が実施されるために
、共振器のそれぞれの横側端面38は共振器の横軸26
と90度以下の角度で交差するということが重要である
。第7図に示されるように、かかる角度の望ましい範囲
は30度と60度の間である。このような要求によって
必然的に横側端面ばジグサグ形を示すことになる。更に
図示されているように、共振器は対称形を有するように
設計されており、それによって各共振器は同一の構造を
有する他の共振器と相接触する位置関係になるように構
成されている。
以上本発明の最良の実施例について記述され説明されて
きたが、さまざまな変化と修正が付記される特許請求の
範囲によってのみ制限される本発明の広い原理から逸脱
することなくなされ得ることは当業者にとって明らかで
あろう。

Claims (2)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)刃型高周波共振器にして、 高周波振動を受入れるための入力面であって前記高周波
    振動を前記入力面と反対側に配置された出力面に伝達す
    るための入力面を有しており、前記入力面と前記出力面
    が前記入力面から前記出力面へ縦方向に伝達される前記
    高周波振動の腹の領域に実質的に配置されるように構成
    された刃型高周波共振器であって、 前記出力面は各側面上に横方向に延在し横側に配置され
    た末端の端面を有する耳部を含んでおり、前記耳部の各
    々は前記共振器の横軸周りのモーメントの総和が実質的
    に0になるように構成されており、前記端面が前記共振

    面する前記共振器によって形成されるニップ(挾み部)
    を通って供給されるシート材に接触するための複数の高
    周波共振器と、刃状形の共振器の各々であって、高周波
    振動を受入れるための入力面であって前記入力面と反対
    側に配置されており前記ニップを通って供給されるシー
    ト材に接触するように構成された出力面に前記高周波振
    動を伝達するための入力面を有する共振器の各々であっ
    て、前記入力面と前記出力面の各々が前記入力面から前
    記出力面へ前記共振器を通って縦方向に伝達される振動
    の腹の領域に実質的に配置されるように構成された共振
    器の各々と、 前記共振器の各側面上に横方向に延在する耳部を含む前
    記共振器の各々の出力面であって、前記耳部の各々が前
    記共振器の各々の横軸周りのモーメントの総和が実質的
    に0になるように構成されており、前記耳部の各々の端
    面が付属する前記共振器の横軸と90度より小さい角度
    で交差するように構成された前記出力面と、 シート材がニップを通って供給され実質的に隙間が残る
    ことなしに溶着されるために相接する位置関係を有する
    二つの並置された共振器のそれぞれの端面と、 を含むことを特徴とする超音波溶着装置。
