Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 産業上の利用分野 本発明は、熱可塑性プラスチック製成形体の束を端面側
で溶接する方法及び装置に関する。
従来の技術 西ドイツ国実用新案第84291.57号明細書によれ
ば、重なっている押出成形されたプラスチック製中空板
材の束から成る熱交換器は、端面側が中空室相互の間に
挿入された帯状ヒーターにより、付着している束に溶接
される。この操作法は例えば管のようなたいていの中空
異形成形体に適用するのは困難である。
西ドイツ国特許第2603615号明細書には、熱可塑
性プラスチック製の管束を溶接する装置が記載されてお
り、この装置では、端面に圧着され、管に相応してリン
ク状の溝を有する2つの被加熱板材の間で管束が張設さ
れている。
溝中に突入している管端部が溶融されかつ相互に溶着す
る。しかしその際に低い圧力しか適用することができな
い。それというのもそうでない場合には融液が管の壁厚
よりも大きい幅の溝から流出してしまうからである。し
かしながら適用し得る低圧は管端部の完全な溶接を保障
しない。
本発明は、端面が1つの面に存在しかつ端面側の端部が
面状で相互に接している、任意の横断面を有する熱可塑
性プラスチック成形体の束を改良された方法ないしは改
良された装置により確実かつ完全に溶接するという課題
に基づいている。
問題点を解決するための手段 この課題の解決に当たり、本発明は加熱可能な溝を有す
る、束の端面に圧着し得る板材を備えた公知の装置から
出発し、その溝は束の横断面に相応して設けられており
かつ面状で相互に接している相応する成形体端部の厚さ
より広い幅を有する。この装置を作動させる際に、面状
で相互に接している端部を加熱されている溝中に加圧下
に押し込み、プラスチックを溶融させかつ相互に接して
いる端部から生じる融液の融合後に溝中で溶融温度より
低温に冷却する。
本発明により、圧着可能な板材は、溝の底がプラスチッ
クの溶融温度に又はそれ以上に加熱可能であるが、溝の
人口は底区域とは反対に作動中プラスチックの溶融温度
を下廻るように断熱性であるように構成されている。人
口区域への熱流動が非常に高くて、そこで溶融温度を上
廻ってしまう場合には入口区域に冷却装置を設けるべき
である。重要なことは、入口区域が全面的に断熱性であ
りかつ場合によっては冷却可能なことであり、即ちプラ
スチック成形体が溝中に突入しているそれぞれの個所で
ある。このことは、板材が成形体束の端面よりも小さい
場合に溝の側方開口部に関してもあてはまる。本発明に
よる溶接法では溝中に突入する成形体の端部を加圧する
と溝の加熱されている空間は融液で充填されかつ融液は
溝の入口の壁と成形体の突入している部分との間の空隙
中に流動し、ここで溶融流度より低温に冷却されかつ固
化する。
発明の効果 溝の入口の空隙中に流動しかつそこで固化した溶融物は
加熱されている溝空間を密閉する。
この密閉が融液が溝から流出するのを全面的に阻止する
。それ故本発明により、溝の加熱されている空間がプラ
スチック融液で満たされかつ中空異形成形体の相互に接
している端部が溝の形状により規定される継目の形成下
に相互に融着する圧力を適用することができる。人口区
域の断熱もしくは冷却は、溝の底区域から流出する融液
をそこで固化する作用を有するばかりでなく、中空異形
成形体の端部を溝のこの部分では溶融せず、それ政情の
底区域に圧力を付与することができる。
発明の用途 本発明による方法及び装置は、非常に多種多様な目的に
好適である成形体の溶接束の製造に有用である。優れて
いる用途は、熱交換器又は蓄熱器の製造である。蓄熱器
として束を使用する際に、熱は流動する熱媒から吸収し
かつ次の操作段階で冷媒に付与する。この用途にとって
、溶接した束では端面方向から流動させることができる
。溶接した束を、異なる温度の2つの流動媒体の間の熱
交換に使用する場合、少なくとも2つの相互に分離して
いる通路系が必要であ通 り、一方は端面から流通しかつ他方は束の側方通 から流ダし得る。
代表的な蓄熱器−又は熱交換用成形体は断面積0.1〜
6R及び長さ0.5〜Lomを有する。
しかし本発明は更に大きな又は小さな束の製造も可能に
する。
実施例 本発明は、一定の形状のプラスチック成形体の溶接に限
定されるものではない。2つ又はそれ以上の同じか又は
異なる形状の成形体を、それらの縁が少なくとも部分的
に面状に相互に接しかつ共通の縁(本明細書ではゝ端面
”と表わす)を形成するように束に継ぎ合わせることを
可能にする限り、成形体の形状は任意である。
薄壁の成形体を相互に溶着すると優れている。
1つの操作工程で本発明により溶接すべき端面は1つの
面中に存在すべきであり、その面が平面であると有利だ
が、そうである必要はない。
面は湾曲状、丸天井形又は屈曲していてもよい。
束は1個又は数個の端面で溶接していてよい。
同時に別々の工具であるいは連続的に溶着することので
きるその都度2つの端面が向かい合っていると有利であ
る。
成形体とは少なくともその長手延長部の主要部において
同一の異形断面を有するものであり、かつ中空室1個以
上を有するようなものが優れている。そのような成形体
は押出により製造可能でありかつ押出方向に対して横方
向に端面を有する。束にしたすべての中空異形成形体が
同じ長さを有すると有利であり、2つの等しい端部を有
する束が製造される。両方の端面をm一般的には同時に
一本発明により溶接すると有利である。
成形体をその端面の全周で相互に溶接することはいつも
必要とは限らず、時々、それぞれが強度に対する要件を
満足する溶接個所が得られる場合にそれで十分である。
本方法の実施可能性にとって、端部が溶接されていない
個所で面状に相互に接しているか又は自由な区間を有し
ているかどうかは問題ではない。しかしながら、端部の
面状に相互に接してはいない部分を、溶接端面が無段階
の面中に存在するように相応する溝中で溶融させること
も有利なはずである。
それ故、板材のすべての溝の底面も1つの面中に存在す
べきである。
中空異形成形体の溶接では、端面では中空室だけが解放
されていてかつ個々の中空異形成形体の相互間の間隙が
端面側からは貫通していないことが望ましい。この場合
には、中空異形成形体が端面側の端部のその全周で、周
が束の外面に位置しない限り相互に面状に接している必
要がある。例えば、中空異形端部は正六角形の形状を有
しかつ・・チの巣のように相互に接していてよい。2つ
の平滑で平行な外壁と連結用ウェブとより成る中空板材
は積み重ねて、本発明により端面側で溶接することがで
きる。基本的にはこのような束には、異形断面が継ぎ合
せられて閉じているすべての中空異形成形体が適してい
る。
本発明の目的には、中空異形成形体の端部だけが面状に
相互に接しているだけで十分である。
端面から離れた他の区域では他の形状の断面を有してい
てよい。例えば、主に円形の断面を有しかつ正六角形断
面に拡がっている端部を有する管を使うことができる。
端部が面状に相互に接している区域は溝の深さよりも若
干長くする。
管束形態交換器の製造には、拡大した端部を有する管を
使うと有利である。これにより束に継ぎ合せる際に拡が
っていない管断面相互の間に流動可能な間隙が解放され
たままで存在する。
熱可塑性プラスチックとしては室温では剛性で、範囲約
50〜300°Cで溶融する成形材料が該当する。しか
し本発明はこの温度範囲に限定されてはいない。”溶融
温度パとは、プラスチックが、2つの別々に生成した融
液が少なくとも加圧下に融合して継ぎ目がないように固
化する成形体を形成する程度に可塑的に軟化する温度を
表わす。異なるプラスチックの融液がこの前提条件を満
足する場合、これらの異なるプラスチックからのプラス
チック成形体を束に溶接することもできる。プラスチッ
クは溶融温度より低温では熱可塑的に軟化した状態で存
在する。軟化温度より低温に冷却する際に初めて硬質状
態(ガラス状態)に移行する。好適なプラスチックの例
としては、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリスチレ
ン、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリアクリレート、ポリカーゼ不
、ポリスルホン、ポリフェニレンオキシド、?リエーテ
ルイミド、ポリエーテルエーテルケト/又はポリアミド
が挙げられる。
次に本発明を添付図面の第1図〜第4図に基づいて中空
異形成形体束の溶接の例について詳説するが、この実施
形に限定されるものではない。
第1図において1は中空異形成形体束に圧着可能な、溝
2を備えた板材を表わす。溝2の底3は発熱体牛又は熱
媒が流動し得る通路4によりプラスチックの溶融温度又
はそれ以上に加熱可能である。溝2の入口5は冷媒通路
6を介して冷却可能である。熱媒もしくは冷媒の供給管
は明らかであるので図示されていない。溶融温度を上廻
って加熱可能な板材1の部分8は有利に鋼、アルミニウ
ム又は真チユウのような金属より成る。断熱部分9も同
様に金属より成っていてよい。それらの間に有利に断熱
材、例えば鉱物繊維フリース、場合により繊維又は織物
で補強されている熱安定性のプラスチック圧縮成形材又
はセラミック体からの層10が間挿されている。しばし
ば、断熱部分9自体がこの種の断熱材より成る場合には
それで十分である。
ポリフェニレンオキシド類の2つの端部11゜12の溶
接に当たり、溝2の底3を240〜260℃に加熱しか
つ人口5は冷却により130℃より低い温度に保持する
。一般に、入口区域をプラスチックの軟化温度を下廻る
温度に保持すると優れている。被加熱溝区域中のインサ
ート力により発生する圧力は例えば0.6〜100N 
/ ca″′Cある。それにより融液流13が溝2の底
3から入口の間隙中に流れ、ここで融液流13は冷い入
口5の壁と接触して固化する。加熱されている溝空間中
に突入している材料が均質に融合しかつ溝空間中に完全
に満たされたら、加熱を中止しかつ材料を溝中で溶融温
度より低く、殊に軟化温度より低温に冷却することがで
きる。
これが周囲空気への放熱によっては迅速に十分には行な
われない場合、冷却を冷却系により促進することができ
る。そのために通路4又は特別な冷媒通路14に冷媒を
流動させることができる。冷却後に、溶接部分を溝2か
ら取り出すことができる。これは若干楔形の断面の溝に
より簡単である。
第2図に図示した管束は六角形に拡がっている端部21
を有する円形管203個より集成されている。端部は区
域22で面状に相互に接している。壁厚23はこの区域
では例えば1〜5 won 、区域24ではその半分の
0.5〜4wnである。
溶接するに当たり、第2図による管束を第3図による板
材1中に押し込む。端部を溶接するための溝2は第4図
(第3図のIV−IV線による断面図)の入口区域26
において壁厚23よりも大きな幅を有しているが、溝底
方向においては壁厚23に相応する幅か又は狭い幅にな
っている。周縁溝27は、外壁が溶接すべき区域と同じ
平面2δ上に位置するように溶融するためだけに使われ
る。
基本的に、本方法を実施するには1つの板材1で十分で
ある。しかし管束の両端面を2つの板材lで同時に溶接
すると優れている。これらの板材を相互に平行に、端部
が溝中に押し込まれる距離だけ相互に接近移動させる。
そのために、材料の少なくとも一方を移動させかつ溶接
に必要な圧力を発生させるシフト装置を使うと有利であ
る。板材は平行に移動可能であるように支持台上に設け
られており、殊に、この支持台は溶接工程の前後に束を
収容するためのホールグーを支持している。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1、端面が1つの面中に存在しかつ端面側の端部が面状
    で相互に接している熱可塑性プラスチック製成形体の束
    を、面状で相互に接している端部を圧力下に被加熱溝中
    に押し込み、その際にその溝中でプラスチックを溶融し
    かつ相互に接する端部から生じる融液の融合後に溝中で
    溶融温度より低温に冷却することによりその束の端面側
    で溶接する方法において、端部の加圧下に、溝の被加熱
    空間を融液で満たしかつ融液をそこで溶融温度よりも低
    温に冷却することを特徴とする熱可塑性プラスチック製
    成形体の束を端面側で溶接するための方法。 2、融液を溝の周縁区域で軟化温度より低温に冷却する
    特許請求の範囲第1項記載の方法。 3、融液を溝の底区域で軟化温度より低温に冷却する特
    許請求の範囲第1項又は第2項記載の方法。 4、押出成形された成形体の束を溶接する特許請求の範

    5項までのいずれか1項記載の方法。 7、端面が1つの面中に存在しかつ端面側の端部が面状
    で相互に接している熱可塑性プラスチック製成形体の束
    を端面側で溶接する装置であつて、束の端面に圧着可能
    で、加熱−及び冷却可能な、溝が設けられている板材を
    包含し、その際に溝が束の端面の断面に相応して設けら
    れておりかつ溝中に押し込まれる面状で相互に接してい
    る端部の厚さより大きい幅を有する前記の装置において
    、溝の底がプラスチックの溶融温度に又はそれ以上に加
    熱可能でありかつ溝の入口が全面的に底区域から断熱さ
    れていることを特徴とする熱可塑性プラスチック成形体
    の束を端面側で溶接するための装置。 8、溝の入口区域に冷却装置が設けられている特許請求
    の範囲第1項記載の装置。 9、溝の入口区域が断熱材料からなる特許請求の範囲第
    1項記載の装置。 10、束の両方の端面を同時に溶接するために、端面に
    圧着可能な、対向して配置されている2つの板材を有す
    る特許請求の範囲第7項から第9項までのいずれか1項
    記載の装置。 11、薄壁成形体を溶接する特許請求の範囲第7項から
    第10項までのいずれか1項記載の装置。
