Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、発熱部を発熱部周辺よりわずかに突出させた
サーマルヘッドに関する。
本発明の目的はサーマルヘッドの発熱部で発生した熱エ
ネルギーを効率よく感熱紙に伝達し、該効果によりサー
マルヘッドに供給する電気的エネルギーを減じて、サー
マルヘッドの耐久寿命を伸ばすことにある。
本発明の他の目的は、熱伝達の効率化により、サーマル
ヘッドの駆動電源への負荷を軽減することにある。
従来のサーマルヘッドの発熱部の断面は第１図に示すよ
うに、その構造上、発熱部、つまり電極３開の発熱抵抗
体２の上部は凹状をなしていた。
該凹部の長さは、サーマルヘッドに触れる感熱紙６の厚
みの数分の１であるため、感熱紙６の曲りは期待できず
空隙となったままである。このため、電極Ｓ間の発熱抵
抗体２で発生した熱エネルギーは効率よく感熱紙６に伝
達されないという欠点を有していた。また第２図に示す
様に、耐酸化膜４と耐摩耗Ｉ［５の間に金属膜７を挿入
したものもあるが、蒸着、エツチングの工程が増える他
、熱膨張率や材質が興なるため、密着性や耐久性に劣る
という欠点を有していた。
本発明は、かかる欠点を除去したものであり、実施例を
第５図を用いて説明する。
耐酸化膜４を最初厚めにつけておき、電極３の上の耐酸
化膜４が電極３間上の耐酸化膜４よりも低くなるように
エツチングした後、該膜上に耐摩耗ａＳをつける。
以上のような構造のサーマルヘッドにすることにより、
感熱紙とサーマルヘッドの発熱部の密着性が向上し、発
生した熱エネルギーが効率よく感熱紙に伝達され、サー
マルヘッドに印加する電気的エネルギーを低くすること
ができるとともに、サーマルヘッドの耐久寿命が延びる
ことも期待できる。さらに、異種の物質が挿入されてい
ないので保護膜同志の密着性も良く、熱膨張率の相違か
ら熱衝撃で破壊することもない。また工程上、蒸着を省
略できる。
以上の如く、本発明は工業上有益な発明でありその他の
分野にも応用されるものであり、請求の範囲を限定する
ものではない。

  1. 薄膜製サーマルヘッドに於いて、発熱部を保霞膜によっ
    て発熱部周辺よりわずかに突出させたことを特徴とした
    サーマルヘッド。
